Kick me out, will she?

So she tells me I’m not welcome in the bakery anymore, does she? And after I watched her fires and swept her ovens to keep her bread as best as it could be. I’ll show her I will I will.

So I gets me two good good stones, but small enough to the trick. Then I goes on the roof up to the oven chimneys, and I waits until the baking smell is just right, so I knows the bread is all rose up, and the crust is just on the edge of going to hard. Then I drops me stones down each chimney into the ovens, and I hears the loud smack as they hits the bottom and I knows the bread is sinking and baking thick and nasty from the shock of it!

See who will buy that bread now, ye old meaner! And that used up hairless freak ye be harboring too!

I’ll get ye both!

(smells the aroma of freshly baked bread and follows her nose to the bakery. Entering she espies a young woman wearing an extremely worried look as she draws low slung loaves from the oven)

Splendid! flatbread! I haven’t tasted that since my travels in Arabia, I shall take two loaves.

(passes a few coins across the counter to the girl, who looks less worried and slightly more confused, and leaves with her loaves, hoping that next time a small amount of honey will be added to the dough)

A brand new product line from the ovens of the Wickentower bakery…vengeful flatbreads!! Whole grain goodness leveled by vengeance with just a touch of hate and disgust!! Get yours while they last. And do try the zombie cookies. They put the "nom" into nom nom nom. *thinks about putting the sake bottle down now*

A pity, that.

I acquired some familiarity with for flatbread from my grandmother. I didn’t especially care for it but she certainly did. Now those that the Mexicans use, the torteas, I think they’re called. Those are wonderful with a good spicy meat and salad mix.

Hmm. I’ll have to get some of those seasonings next time I get out there. They have a taste like nothing else I’ve run across.

I must also make a note to acquire several cases of good Tequila, Herradura or Patron, if possible. That Sierra is just . . unfortunate.

Ahhh, flatbreads! From the thin, pliant tortillas of south america,to the almost cakelike foccacia, studded with rosemary and garlic, of italy. The spicy stuffed naans of india sharing the table with their plainer chapati cousins.

A tall, risen loaf is wonderful for a sandwich but for eating with a meal a flatbread wins every time.

(Miss McAuley sighs happily, dipping her flatbread into her spicy lamb stew and remembering the clear, clear nights in Arabia, where the sky seemed filled with more stars than there were grains of sand in the desert)
