A week ago I went exploring in the sewer system of Babbage. On of the items I found and brought back was a glass bottle containing a green fluid. I didn’t attach any importance to it at the time, thinking it a mere curiosity.
Toward evening I noticed that the fluid was very faintly glowing. I was curious but not immediately worried. But later, after telling some friends about it and hearing their concerns, and seeing that it was glowing brighter when I returned, I placed it in a lead box. If anything happened it would at least be contained.
I’ve since attached a device to monitor the temperature inside the box and, as I suspected, it IS giving off heat. Quite a lot in fact. The record shows that in the early afternoons the temperature rises to about 30 degrees F above that of the room.
It appears that it is being affected by the daylight that filters through the leaded glass door. I’m glad I didn’t leave it sitting out in direct sunlight! I shudder to remember how I carried it home in my backpack, thinking it harmless.
I’m going to begin a series of experiments, exposing small amounts of the fluid of different levels of light. I’ll proceed with caution and I’m sure it will be Reasonably Safe.

I am impressed with the experiment equipment. Nice mini-build but is should have a pressure relief safety valve and some gears of course…smiles

I… I can’t say too much but you should seek out the one known as The Scientist… if that is what I fear it is then you & your soul are in grave danger. Please take care, both with the bottle’s contents and The Scientist…

I am hoping it is a new strain of absinthe.

Cor, I hope it’s a new kind of absinthe. That would be great for cold weather.

I have bad news for those hoping for absinthe. I’ve determined that it contains no alcohol. A pity in a way, as a brightly glowing drink would be quite a novelty. And it might aid in finding ones way home in the dark. If any makers of absinthe read this perhaps they will be inspired to experiment.

Can…I still drink it? Maybe I’ll glow?
