((Posted by Emperor Crumb on May 17, 2010))
On a brisk May morning, His Imperial Majesty Emperor Ezra Crumb II was swaying down the crackled cobble road in the country north of his beloved city. As he stopped to collect his wits, and to sneak a nip from the flask hidden in his patched overcoat, a well dressed man on a horse rode up next to him. “Pardon me, good sir, do you know the city of New Babbage?”
“Indeed I do.” he replied.
“Tell me then, how do I get to New Babbage?”
“Go to Falun,” suggests the Emperor.
“Falun?” cried the man. “I’ve just come from there. The village is in the wrong direction; I want to go to New Babbage,” said the man, sitting up straighter in his saddle.
“You can’t get to Babbage from here,” insisted the Emperor.
“Correct me if I am wrong, my good gentleman, but New Babbage is straight ahead, is that not correct?” argued the man.
“That most certainly is correct.” replied the Emperor.
“And, if I were to continue traveling straight ahead I would eventually reach New Babbage, correct again?”
“Correct again.” said the Emperor.
“Then, for the love of all that is holy, why are you advising me to go back to Falun?” asks the triumphant man.
The Emperor smiled crookedly beneath his grizzly beard. “Well Sir, you see, they have something you are desperately in need of… a signposted route to New Babbage. I happen to know where I am going!”

So… it was the Emperor I noticed hobbling along the side of the road when I was making my way back to town… shouldn’t he have a nurse helping him?
