Scottie’s so mean…
Why he treats me so differently now I have no clue! We’ve been dear friends since my arrival to Babbage those times ago, and now he treats me like I’m a completely different person. Perhaps it has something to do with the black out at my Hostel.
I overwork myself…I really do and I don’t have the foggiest idea how I got into my bedroom, and why Iniko was standing over my bed covered and blood and grinning from ear to ear.
“You’re awake. Wonderful…how are you feeling?” she whispered softly and brushed the hair from my forehead.
“I’m fine…but I feel like death.” I grumbled.
“You wreak of it too…but the job is done. Unfortunate though…” she sighs and walks to her chambers window, “He would of made a great bit of fun for Amanta.”
I adored Iniko…she was everything I wanted to be and more. A cold, confident woman who though would never rise above her title back home, would have no problem doing what was necessary to keep a friend, sister, lover…master pleased. I rose to sit up, not a stitch on my body as Iniko turned back to me and began to change herself.
“Why…did we?”
“Oh yes! With great precision I might add! I didn’t know you could move so swiftly and so accurately when it came to handling a blade. However, your excitement from torture won’t make us any money. Perhaps it is time for you to see that gentleman at the hospital so we can bring you around a bit more.” she smirked and handed me some Turkish coffee…sure to put hair on a ladies chest and wake even the dead of night. The thought of the mans death did not affect me much. I could not tell if it was because I was to weak to care, or simply just did not care…
I sputtered a bit but managed to swallow.
Scottie is so mean to me…and I wouldn’t forgive him, yet Iniko promised me that she would stand by my side so we can venture further into business matters, and ensure things didn’t get out of hand yet again.
“So far, things have been well…not a word on the street, and how nice to discover an easy bit of prey this morn.”
“This morn? I have been out all day?”
“Out as a lamp dear…”
I frowned and looked at the setting sun knowing this would be no means of keeping a guarded schedule. I rose from the bed completely looking at the claw marks on my arm.
“The bookshop man, is he acquainted with you?” she asked now in cleaner garb folding the bloodstained garments she removed and placing them into her travel case as if they where nothing to her.
“Scottie?”
“Yes, I do believe that was his name. Such a lovely man…showed me around the town, asked questions, made himself a worthy…desire. If you know what I mean habibi?”
Habibi…a term only Teren had used for me when we where in Ireem. A soft word spoken towards friends showing endearment…I missed my family.
“We are dear friends…why do you ask? What did -he- ask?”
“Nothing you should worry about now…just rest. I’m going to go out a little bit more, three days and I shall bring a bit of spice to your little town during the opening of the hostel. I suggest you make your means to obtain the medicines needed to…gather our product.” Iniko laid me back down and tucked me in as she buttoned up her coat.
“Be careful…” I whispered before my mind began to drift. She drugged the coffee, I knew it and I could feel the caffeine rushing the sedative through my veins and into my soul. I could care less as she turned into a dark blur of herself and I kissed goodnight the Cheshire cat grin that only she could carry so perfectly.
Now that Iniko was here…I could relax…I could dream…
