A Shocking Surprise

During a recent delay in the final countdown to the firing of my Space Gun, I have finally found the time to conduct some bench tests of the intriguing power source I obtained from the mysterious ex-patriot from Aracania. Despite the pomp and circumstance surrounding the test flight of his “ark,” I was still quite skeptical that the diminutive bauble he had handed me could do much more than power a simple electric lamp.

Much to my surprise, as soon as I had hooked up the device, the powerful current instantaneously overloaded my test equipment, arcing dangerously from pole to pole. A fire started immediately in the insulating materials.

Luckily, not only was I wearing my trusty goggles, but the foresight I had in installing a firefighting attachment to my Steam Powered Autobot has paid a handsome dividend. The targeting cogitator clicking furiously away, the Autobot began venting excess boiler water through the directional nozzle, and quickly extinguished the fire.

I must say, I am amazed at the power of the galvanic current generated by this small device. I believe it may be sufficient to power a prototype design of mine that I had never thought would advance any beyond the purely theoretical stage: The Magnetic Zeppelin. Is it possible to pilot a heavier than air ship, buoyed only by the repulsion of the Earth’s very magnetic field? I may now finally have the means to find out…

Has the gun been fired? Did I miss it? Are you in orbit, Mr. Denimore?
