Oh dear Journal things are moving so quickly!!
The steamer Clockhaven Queen has arrived on last night’s tide. I ran down to the freight handler’s building to see if anything had come for me. My message must have made quite the impression on the monks as there were several packages for me. The first was a hamper of pigeons, alert and well-fed. Those will be installed in the coop with the others back at the flat. Two more boxes awaited inspection in a more private area as they both carried seals with the temple’s secret code upon them. Happily, some urchins were nearby and available for carrying so off we went looking like a safari line of bearers following the hunter.
Back at the flat, with the pigeons in their coop and the urchin tipped nicely for their efforts, I broke the seals carefully. You have to know what you are doing with these seals dear Journal as they have gunpowder and poison contained within the paper. They are nasty little scraps but needed at times. Inside the one package are the ofuda strips I wanted and in a great quantity too. I shall be able to hand these out to anyone who wishes. Such a quantity would indicate the monks worked long into the night and that they also understand what a plight New Babbage is in.
The other, larger crate contains something entirely unexpected. Temple shrine holders. But these have a glowing yellow object inside whose flicking rays extend beyond the sides of the holder. I have never seen anything like this before. Of course the senior monk has included a note with instructions;
"Iyou, these holders have the ability to keep a spirit’s essence contained within its walls. The spirit will stay confined within a distance of twice the length of your kanata. It won’t suffer any discomfort and can reside undetected within the glow when required. The binding to this holder uses the same ritual as the one taught to you to confine a ghost to a new grave site. You know what is needed for that. Gomennasai little miko, but it is the only way to complete the task you require. Yuuki o dashite, your Father and I are praying for your success."
I almost dropped the crate when I saw the note. Oh dear Journal, I must become a grave robber!!!
