dearest diary,
i am trembling with fury and outrage as i write this… quite betrayed it is that i feel, at the lack of moral decency shown by guardians and protectors of we urchins, as they bay for the blood of a bunny rabbit like hounds at a hunt!
a pyromaniac and a criminal he may be, but… whatever has happened to the notion of a just and civilised society? may the leader of a town, in this age of steam and enlightenment, commit such a cruel, callous act, be as barbarous as he may please, and nobody is at all shocked? nor even dismayed?..
i am quite, quite disillusioned! even dear miss star, whom i know at heart to be awfully sweet and charitable, suggested cutting off his front paw instead of his hind leg! i so, so wish i had had the wits to release him, rather, as a political prisoner, when i saw tenk’s saw lying by the bars, and had my chance… i must be rather foolish, expecting good and just behaviour from grownups…
and so gilhooly and i have agreed (for gilhooly stands by me always like a whiskery rock, no matter how foolhardy i am being), that we are to start a protest movement… a revolutionary one, rather… the urchins shall govern, and rule in compassion and kindness.

Now children I know and Island you can live on. Uncle Lupindo can take you there. Some of the people there have whiskers too, and there is a Doctor there who helps everyone.

He burnt down my factory, deliberately, and without any grudge against me. Why? I was still recovering from the Grendel Incident on my cafe. And still trying to cope with my lack of insurance coverage due to a paperwork backlog in quoting me rates.
