I wonder if this nudge to this entry might give me a clue about the citizens of New Babbage and their feelings regarding Volume 2? I shot all the crickets that descended after I first posted this query about continuing. Don’t make me shoot more innocent crickets. Speak up. :D
I’m not much of a writer, but I could give something another shot! I have an idea stirring in my head… stirred by a weird airplane-rocketship thing I think.
If the muse suits you, I’d enjoy reading your story, Blackberry! And I am sure you’re a fine writer. Editors exist to *ensure* that, too! ;)
For some reason my eyes are drawn to the Sake bottle and cup.
I have been working on a sequal to Sea Hunt, but it is evenless Steampunk than the first.
Even if it does not make it into volume 2 I intended to contact you Ceejay about editing it.

How do you put them marbles back in the apparatus? Pull its top off?

I’ll get started on something in about three weeks’ time.
I have never played with the marble thingy, but I should and then report back! And the Sake bottle and cup really do exemplify his personality – he’s totally a big gawky American, but with Eastern asthetics, sensibilities, and attitudes. Interesting mix.
All that aside, thank you for your enthuasiasm! I know Cleanslate has been horrifically busy of late, and I didn’t want this venture to fall through the cracks never to be seen again. We were all so proud of the first volume and I really want to see more of them produced!
I think I can help streamline the editing/proofing process after seeing how it went before, and I’m happy to assist how I can, with editing and collecting in of stories. Google docs is superb for this sort of work – and we have NO deadline, which is delightful.
Basically, when you have a story you feel is bookworthy (it should be able to be read by an outsider and enjoyed free-standing), just email it to me at ceejay.writer@gmail.com OR simply open up your google doc to me. All you need to do!
New Babbage has some very talented writers, and amazing imaginations. I appreciate this so much. :)

I have started hearing rumors that Cleanslate is again talking about Volume II. So far, this has eluded me completely, and I would encourage AE to pop into this thread with any update – please don’t let me be the last to know.
And the rest of you! Are you writing? :D

I’d suggested, way back, that stories seem to naturally occur in New Babbage, either via roleplay, or just inspiration gained via the city. And as these stories occur, I’d encouraged people to submit them to Cleanslate and I for consideration in the next volume. So, really, there’s no deadline, no constraints, just if you happen to write something you feel would be intersting to outside readers (something they wouldn’t need to know every inside joke or reference on), then you submit it.
I am still hoping for clarification from Cleanslate though – so keep in mind this is all *my* opinion. For all I know, he’s got a few dozen stories stacked on his desk already.
