Unforseen Side effects

Now that I am fully cured from the effects of the zombie vaccine, I think
it’s time I shared my experiences from this past week and hopefully help come
to terms with myself on these events that happened in my Second Life.

After Arnold graciously shared his dose of the ‘Vaccine’ and warning me of the
known side effects if I wasn’t physically prepared for this serum, I still
wrestled with the uneasiness of whether or not to admit of my involvement in
drinking away the prior night at Oktoberfest. I thought “Surely there was
nothing to worry about.  I’m sure many
others drink occasionally too with this, right?”

Well that’s what I thought anyway…

Then the cough starts, as a little tickle but soon enough I can’t stop. Arnold
suggested I go to bed and rest up. Sleepless night, I then break into a cold
sweat. What once started as a searing heat through my body had gone, leaving me
with this cold emptiness.

That’s when Junie decided it was best that I stayed down in the basement. Sure
she said it was ‘for my own safety.’ But I knew better. Their safety was a
greater concern… I was getting… cravings…

It pained me that I was looking at my friends as a meal more than a companion
and I couldn’t take the thought of doing IT. I quickly scribbled from my tab
sheet warning them to stay away and used the back door into the sewers, I
discovered when cleaning up late one night.

Wounds were opening up all over me and the most horrible pain seared through my
stomach. But still the hunger in me raged on. Unable to take the craving for
meat, I followed the sewers into an odd room, full of mushrooms? Meat they may
not have been, but the smell alone could have fooled me. Like a savage animal I
tore into one of them without a moment’s hesitation.

Then I felt something fall into my lap. Looking down, I saw the pieces I had
just eaten! To my escalating horror a hole had eroded away from inside my
stomach!

In my last ounce of desperation, I had to get help.

Climbing out of the sewers, I found my way near the docks. Not seeing too well,
I was still able to make out a party of people. I tried to call out to them but
a gurgling hiss was all I could muster. I was losing myself to this thing
coursing through me.

My mind nearly gone, was snatched back into the focus with the sound of gunfire,
at me!

I tore down the docks and threw myself back into the frigid water.

Wandering around the canals on nothing more than instinct when Arnold finally
found me; using his wagon to coax me into the cage, then barreled down the streets
as madly as his prior guests.

I… I don’t remember much after that, some talk from Arnold, constantly
wispering how sorry he was. And soup, that awful vegetarian soup. But it had
medicine in it, easing the pains and giving me a chance to heal until the cure
was found.

I remember my first day out of my cell. Still weak, I sat on the balcony
staring at the quiet morning fog buffering the smell that had filled my life
earlier. I don’t remember everything from those nights, but I do remember
enough to leave me deeply troubled at what I was capable of.

All I can do now is move on and work hard to earn the trust from all those I’ve
threatened…
