Mornington sat back with his hooves up on the table as he looked around at the refurbished restaurant. The build crew he hired from Port Babbage had made short work of refurbishing the crumbling structure of the old hall side.
The foreman, a tired looking old man by the name of Mr Grimshaw held Mornington a note with the final tally of the build work.
“Aye Morningtun…it’ll not collpase on ya anytime soon!”
“Thank you Mr Grimshaw, you and your men have done a fine job”
Grimshaw was about to head out when he turned to Mornington….
“Ya know Morningtun…yer basement bar is now just about above the ceiling of the old Crumb Hall cellar?”
“Cellar?”
“Aye…i was lookin at the old building diagrams of the original Crumb Hall before you took the place over and…ummm….extended it…a little. The basement floor is just above the roof of the old Crumb Hall wine cellar. Shouldnt take too much to dig down further and clear out the debris.”
Mornington sat and looked at Grimshaw…
“So…the building will be fine if the foundations are dug out more?”
“Weeeeeeeelllll Morningtun…it would take an absolute act of stupidity to dig in the wrong pla…”
Grimshaw looked at Mornington and shook his head…
“I’ll send some lads over to dig out the cellar for ya in an hour or so”
…and with that Mr Grimshaw walked out, leaving a big wide grin on Morningtons face…
“A double locked bar cellar…perfect place to hide that old stock of 30 year old Chivas Brothers Dark Rum…and that 20 year old Chivas gold label from that fool Emerson”
The Cask of Chivas?
he’s going to hit a geothermal tap for heating the pool if he keeps digging. or else the whole thing is going to implode.
….. wonder if there is anything left in the old cellar?
Who knows what horrors may lurk in the old cellar!
*sends a note to Unit #6: Looks like our secret cache has been found, best move it to an alternate site*
Unit #6 looks at the note, “Hmm… Time… to… move… the… apples…”.
or he’ll find another plague pit full of Old Quarter zombies. Just sayin’…
You could build a secret airship hanger under Brunel Hall and no-one would notice.
