Scottie Gets His Ears Lowered

“Can’t I just wait for it to grow back?” Scottie asked in a pleading tone. He was sitting bolt upright on a stool directly in front of Sky. His face was a picture of desperation, as if he was about to lose an old friend.

Sky replied as gently as possible, “Love, you look like you’ve been in a fight with an airship propeller.” She lifted up one side of his hair that was still long and then moved her hand to the other side emphasizing the difference.

“A fight near one, not a fight with one…” Scottie grumbled.

Sky tried to hold back a chuckle and keep a straight face, “I know, darling. I know. I’m just not sure your hair knew the difference.” She combed her fingers slowly through his lopsided locks, trying to soothe him.

Scottie gave a sigh of resignation, “Just do it quickly, please.” With that he closed his eyes tightly and folded his arms. Sky could tell by looking at him that his jaw was clenched.

Grabbing her trusty old scissors from a nearby table, she set to cutting her husband’s hair. She typically was the one to give him trims, but he always wanted the same style. Sky was fond of it so she never tried to convince him otherwise. However, the time had come for her to do some damage control and she saw it as an opportunity, and of course he saw it as a curse.

Sky hummed quietly, as she always did when cutting his hair, her fingers deftly pulling locks to snip. Scottie slowly relaxed, his eyes still shut but his countenance visibly calming. He was just about to drift off to sleep when Sky said, “Done!”

She was standing in front of him again but this time holding a small mirror, her expression very hopeful as she watched him. Scottie blinked as his reflection came into focus. He immediately got a sideways grin, he knew he looked sharp. Then he noticed something…

“Hey!” he said excitedly. Sky jumped, hoping the ‘hey’ was a positive one. Scottie continued, “I can see! There’s nothing in front of my eyes anymore…”

::laughs:: Oh dear, poor, Scottie. I still have yet to see it. Though I’m left wondering what, pray tell, did you fight to wind up with such a lopsided chop to be corrected in the first place?
