Well, playing with bablefish, the claim is that if the materials are strong enough, a vacuum will provide lift from the pressure of the atmosphere around it. Time for Mythbusters!

Theoretically, yes, if it can hold it’s shape. Just a matter of displacement. I’ll just imagine the metal is some bizarro Lithium-Hydrino alloy. :D
