Oh – and if you’d like to add an event to the festivities (in past years we’ve had mermaid performances, art galleries, parties…) please do! Let me know and I’ll add it to the official lists…

The mermaid dance was wonderful! *nods*

  3. Osric Worbridge Osric Worbridge October 27, 2012

Took my ship out into the Vernian today for a shake down. If my schedule permits I am looking forward to the Iron Melee.

Pshaw.  What’s Bump got to do with it?

      • Junie Ginsburg Junie Ginsburg November 2, 2012

Right.  They have no navy.  Just a few rowboats and a ferry raft, and who knows what would turn up if that lake were ever dredged.

        OOTC:  GO SMOKES!

:: See Vernden Jervil for details.

    * Iron Melee, 5PM SLT, BLAKE SEA

    >> An epic naval skirmish featuring the navies of the steamlands, slugging it out on the open ocean. Events will include:

    1) King (or Queen) of the Hill.  Your basic free-for-all. Last ship standing wins. 20 minute time limit.

    2) Fleet Action. Based on a set of rules beiong prepared by New Babbage Commodore Jedburgh Dagger, taking into account points and ship numbers. The idea is to balance “big ship” and “mosquito ship” classes and everything in between.

:: Contact Commodore Jedburgh Dagger for details. (Thanks to Cmdr Robin Sprocket for critical assistance.)

    * Windjammer Race>> Tall ships and wind-powered vessels to compete in this yachting race around the sailing field, before cheering crowds gathered on viewing stands. Trophies will be on hand for the winners. SL wind powered class and non-SL wind powered class will compete in different events
    * Submarine Races>> The finest submariners – and their daring mechanical marvels – will line up to compete against each other in this underwater tournament. The Public won’t want to miss this epic event grid-wide famous for its underwater dirty tricks. Appropriate dress is encouraged.* Competitors are invited to test the race field in the days before the event

    * Armadan Turtle Racing, 5PM SLT
    >> Armada’s famous race returns for fleet week . Take one of our partially mechanized remade turtles and race through an obstacle course full of spike, fire, axes and explosives. All are welcome to test their piloting abilities, or come and watch the show.

    * Buccaneer’s Bash in Armada Breakaway! 7-9PM SLT
    >> Come join the pirates of Armada as we have our after action party for the fleet week races and battles. Non pirates are of course welcome as well.  (As an interesting note of history the term buccaneer originally referred to people who used bucans, small wooden grills popular in a few Caribbean islands. In honor of this our own Ceejay Writer will be grilling on the deck for the party. We may have one or two other surprises set up for the guests.)
:: See Vernden Jervil for details.

Any need for more water or building space? I’m about to flatten my sim, so it’ll be empty.

I think I have the Aether Chrononauts, Armada Breakaway and New Babbage calendars updated now, but please yell at me if you see something amiss.

Hope to see you at various events during Fleet Week!  I’ll be hosting Tall Tales and Outright Lies, and burning some sort of meat substance for your enjoyment at the Buccanneer’s Bash!
