Dr Falcon looked at the readings, “It should have shut down!”.
Unit #6 pointed to the generator, “The… entity… has… become… unbound…”.
The dark unicorn stomped her hoofs, “It should have shut down! Disengaged from the dampening rings it should have got bored and fallen asleep! Look at these readings, activity is off the scale!”.
Unit #6 pointed at the meters, “Where… is… all… the… power… going…”.
Dr Falcon pondered the readings, “Now that really is befuddling! Energy cannot be destroyed, it must be going somewhere! But… It looks like enough power to level the city is just evaporating into thin air!”.
That doesn’t sound good…
The Clockhaven Power Station began shaking with rhythmic energetic pulses, each one more powerful than the last! Bits of stone started falling from the walls of the generator room and part of the roof caved in!
Unit #6 flailed his arms shouting “Danger… Danger… Danger…” repeatedly while Dr Falcon struggled to make sense of the readings!
The dark unicorn stomped her hoofs, “Panicking will not help anyone! We need to figure out what is going on… Its some sort of resonance effect… expanding exponentially!”.
Leaping over the railing the dark unicorn shrugged off falling debris, “There is only one way to stop this! I must release the entity!”.
Unit #6 flailed wildly, “You… will… be… destroyed… Danger… Danger…”.
Gritting her teeth Dr Falcon leapt into the spinning mechanism and hit the entity chamber with her horn!
With a grinding of protesting metal the generator core shuddered to a halt, remaining still for the briefest of moments before exploded upwards, bursting through what was left of the power station roof and spewing bits of mechanism across the city!
…
Unit #6 looked through the cloud of dust, but all that remained within the generator room was a pile of forlorn debris and a vacant space where the generator core had once stood.
Unit #6 wandered round the power station directing clockwork to repair what they could and searching for the lost unicorn under various small stones and inside broken bits of pipe…
The Clockhaven power station had been restarted to fill in a weak spot in the World System, caused by a localised increase in mad-science, without the generator all manner of mad experiements ground to a halt as systems switched to the weak power signals from far flung Steamlands…
Meanwhile somewhere in time…
