Quarterly town hall meeting held at city hall on Jan. 21st at 1pm. Topics:
Old prim accounting vs. new prim accounting – Know the difference!
Linking a torus to a sculpt will result in new prim accounting, as well as applying materials or linking to mesh which we already knew about.
30k sims – everyone in the sim has to say yes. to get an estimate, multiply your prims by 1.5, and that would also be the tier.
We haven’t had a Fleet Week in a while. April or May would be a good time. I’m not organizing it.
Possible Oiling Festival builds: replace the elevated railway, replace the steel static bridge in Wheatstone, Water Towers, and more.
transcript follows:
[13:00] Mosseveno Tenk: righto, top of the hour
[13:00] Dr. Kristos Sonnerstein (kristos.sonnerstein) reaches a hand back to poke Sigmund’s nose
[13:00] Tepic Harlequin can’t remember biting Sir Sir Emerson, so probably wasn’t sat on….
[13:00] SigmundSloth: ^-^
[13:00] Emerson Lighthouse: Did anyone bring popcorn ?
[13:00] Mosseveno Tenk: congratualtions to everyone who made it to 2017
[13:01] Rusalka Writer: Indeed.
[13:01] Mosseveno Tenk: let’s get started.
[13:01] Edan Borrelly smiles
[13:01] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): Greetings!
[13:01] Mosseveno Tenk: Miss Puchkina, what is the book club reading? i missed the memo somwhere
[13:01] Gabrielle Riel smiles, seeing Equine
[13:01] Russell A. Firecrest (adventureruss) slips in inconspicuously.
[13:01] Avariel Falcon carries in the popcorn machine
[13:01] Azura Loring: Yay! Popcorns!
[13:01] Mosseveno Tenk: woo popcorn
[13:01] SigmundSloth: Squeak!
[13:01] Dr. Kristos Sonnerstein (kristos.sonnerstein): Mmm
[13:02] Mosseveno Tenk: first order of business. 30k sims
[13:02] Gabrielle Riel: eeek
[13:02] Sera (serafina.puchkina): Ready Player One is the book.
[13:02] Mosseveno Tenk: as you may have noticed, we are in a 30k sim
[13:02] Russell A. Firecrest (adventureruss): What’s one of those?
[13:02] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan) sits down next to Gabrielle and smiles “Long time!”
[13:02] Emerson Lighthouse: Thanks, Avariel
[13:02] Mosseveno Tenk: ready player one, thank you
[13:02] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): Oops.
[13:02] Sera (serafina.puchkina): Discussion tomorrow at the Burton Library. 1 pm slt
[13:02] Mosseveno Tenk: tomorrow!
[13:02] Beatrixe Rouse (beatrixerouse): Ooo, I enjoyed that one. Will be there
[13:02] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): Prank seats?
[13:02] Emerson Lighthouse prepares to speed read
[13:03] Tepic Harlequin: a sim yer can waste even more prims in! heheh
[13:03] Avariel Falcon: Like your regular sim, but more primmy!
[13:03] Loki Mesh – Timerascal Pipe – Animator: releasing controls
[13:03] Mosseveno Tenk: i would like to move clockhaven up to a 30k sim also. and i will consider any others, but everyone in the sim has to agree that they want it, because it will make the rent go up
[13:03] Mosseveno Tenk: to get an estimate
[13:03] Mosseveno Tenk: multiply your prims by 1.5
[13:03] Mosseveno Tenk: and go 1 to 1 on tier.
[13:04] Mosseveno Tenk: right now tier is 1.2 per prim
[13:04] Avariel Falcon: I’m ok with clockhaven going up to 30k, also would like to make the power station one parcel sometime
[13:04] Mosseveno Tenk: remember we stated at 2.13 per prim
[13:04] SigmundSloth: o.o
[13:04] Mosseveno Tenk notes avariel
[13:04] Mosseveno Tenk: Bergamasco is ok with it too, i had lunch with her the other day in RL
[13:05] Dr. Kristos Sonnerstein (kristos.sonnerstein): So it would be only slightly higher on tier than we started at?
[13:05] Mosseveno Tenk: she needs a break from taking care of her parents
[13:05] Emerson Lighthouse: I’ll vote yes
[13:05] Russell A. Firecrest (adventureruss): So the tier would stay the same per prim, but there would be more available? Is that right?
[13:05] Dr. Kristos Sonnerstein (kristos.sonnerstein): Satu’s a vote for yes too
[13:05] Avariel Falcon: Yay!
[13:05] Mosseveno Tenk: right, the tier won’t go as up as you might expect, becuase a 30k sim lowers what it costs per prim on my end
[13:05] Rusalka Writer: More than fair.
[13:05] Edan Borrelly nods
[13:05] Mosseveno Tenk: and i’m not enough of a dick to keep that all to myself. we’re in a community survival game here.
[13:06] Avariel Falcon: ^_^
[13:06] Dr. Kristos Sonnerstein (kristos.sonnerstein) nods
[13:06] Mosseveno Tenk: not a tenk profits model
[13:06] Sera (serafina.puchkina): thank you
[13:06] Rusalka Writer: Wicked promoter, you.
[13:06] Avariel Falcon: Prims for the people!
[13:06] Mosseveno Tenk: but like the farmer says, i’m not going to pay for th eprivlege…
[13:06] Mosseveno Tenk: so chew on that
[13:07] Avariel Falcon: Its ok Mr Tenk, we understand that the sims have to pay their way
[13:07] Mosseveno Tenk: occupancy is about 85 to 86 % right now. about where it always tends to hover.
[13:07] Mosseveno Tenk: occupancy does go down iwth a 30k sim becuase folks will turn in their prim farms, so i will have to make that up in rentals.
[13:07] Mosseveno Tenk: i hope i’m not undercutting the landlords
[13:08] Mosseveno Tenk: i try to price it so i’m not, but i’m never sure
[13:08] Mosseveno Tenk: moving on
[13:08] Mosseveno Tenk: air races in mondrago.. when does that happen?
[13:08] Beatrixe Rouse (beatrixerouse): Last week
[13:08] Mosseveno Tenk: is that every year?
[13:08] Mosseveno Tenk: or how often does that come around?
[13:08] Beatrixe Rouse (beatrixerouse): Every 4 months so seasonal
[13:09] Mosseveno Tenk: groovy
[13:09] Mosseveno Tenk: what we haven’t had in a long time is
[13:09] Mosseveno Tenk: Fleet Week
[13:09] Tepic Harlequin: always in the middle of the bloomin night!
[13:10] Jedburgh Dagger (jedburgh30.dagger): Water space is harder to come by
[13:10] Mosseveno Tenk: if someone wants to make that happen, you have my blessing, but its more than i can manage. i would suggest NOT doing it in fall, as fall is already heavily booked. April or May would be the right time
[13:10] Mosseveno Tenk: i think
[13:10] Mosseveno Tenk: well, we still got a waterfront
[13:10] Mosseveno Tenk: and with the prim raise, there’s more parking space
[13:11] Mosseveno Tenk: for something like that so folks can show off their ships
[13:11] Avariel Falcon: The Aquila sim is available as an overflow for Fleet week
[13:11] Mosseveno Tenk points at what she said
[13:11] Mosseveno Tenk: and we got a beach sim volunteered
[13:11] Avariel Falcon: Plenty of prims free and water
[13:11] Russell A. Firecrest (adventureruss): Ooo! I’ve been wondering about that.
[13:11] Mosseveno Tenk: there’s room
[13:11] Fauve Aeon thinks her boat will be too big/primmy
[13:11] Avariel Falcon: We also have a harbour
[13:11] Mosseveno Tenk: but like i said, i’m just one wee fellow. someone else has to make it go
[13:12] Mosseveno Tenk: so chew on that
[13:12] Mosseveno Tenk: any questions before i move on?
[13:12] Mosseveno Tenk: right
[13:12] Mosseveno Tenk: prim accounting
[13:13] Mosseveno Tenk: its come to my attention this week that not everyone is up to speed on old prim accounting vs new prim accounting
[13:13] Mosseveno Tenk: so here’s the tutorial
[13:13] Mosseveno Tenk: in old accounting, 1 prim = 1 land impact
[13:13] Mosseveno Tenk: even sculpts
[13:13] Mosseveno Tenk: 1 sculpt = 1 land impact
[13:13] Mosseveno Tenk: like these two objects behind me
[13:13] Tepic Harlequin: darn! Mr Tenk has us in school AGAIN!
[13:13] Mosseveno Tenk: but this is a LIE!
[13:14] Mosseveno Tenk: a lie we lived with for a very long time.
[13:14] Azura Loring: Sowwy Tepic, my fault.
[13:14] Emerson Lighthouse: I live with a lot of lies
[13:14] Mosseveno Tenk: so enter mesh, and the lab brought us NEW ACCOUNTING
[13:14] Fauve Aeon: the sculpt cake is a lie!
[13:14] Mosseveno Tenk: where things got HONEST
[13:14] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan) feels the revolutionary coming out in him wanting to shout “NO MORE!”
[13:14] Mosseveno Tenk: so poke at these things next to me, and compare the land impact to the ones on the other side of the room
[13:15] Mosseveno Tenk: they are the EXACT SAME ITEMS
[13:15] Mosseveno Tenk: how you can force something into the new (ture) accounting ?
[13:15] Mosseveno Tenk: you link it to a mesh
[13:15] Azura Loring nods
[13:15] Mosseveno Tenk: or you slap a bump or shine map on it
[13:15] Russell A. Firecrest (adventureruss): Hmm
[13:15] Mosseveno Tenk: this is why we are replacing stuff as fast as we can
[13:15] Russell A. Firecrest (adventureruss): That is something of a difference.
[13:15] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): Latter not making much sense, but its the way it is!
[13:15] Mosseveno Tenk: you might remmeber that babbage canals was a very bad sim, and no one knew why
[13:15] Mosseveno Tenk: it was the bridges
[13:16] Mosseveno Tenk: which were made over about 30 torii
[13:16] Avariel Falcon: Boo! for Bridges!
[13:16] Gabrielle Riel: oh man
[13:16] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): I actually ran into this recently when rezzing some of my very old sculpts after years of neglect.
[13:16] Mosseveno Tenk: and it bogged the sim down horribly
[13:16] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): A linkset shot up from 60 to 150 then to 233…
[13:16] Avariel Falcon gets the dynamite
[13:16] Mosseveno Tenk: and i’d been looking ofr the cause for years! who knew?
[13:16] Mosseveno Tenk: right
[13:16] Scottie Melnik: Is that why people had framerate drops walking in here today?
[13:16] Scottie Melnik: Because those things are here?
[13:16] Azura Loring nods and noms popcorn and makes notes
[13:17] Mosseveno Tenk: so when you are experimenting with your old stuff, i strongly suggest you do it in a sandbox so you don’t have a prim return accident.
[13:17] Mosseveno Tenk: any questions?
[13:17] Mosseveno Tenk gets up for water
[13:17] Gabrielle Riel: gotta love “prim return incidents”!
[13:17] Azura Loring: Between those and the av’s, aye
[13:17] Tepic Harlequin gets up for rum….
[13:17] Fauve Aeon continues to eliminate sculpts
[13:17] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): By the way
[13:17] Fauve Aeon: the checking methods will be helpful, I was not sure how to check.
[13:17] Mosseveno Tenk: yes mr McM?
[13:17] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): This also happens if you link a torus to a sculpt (not a mesh)
[13:18] Azura Loring: Oh really now ?
[13:18] Mosseveno Tenk: oh hell, there’s a new one!
[13:18] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): That’s what happened to me
[13:18] Azura Loring: Never tried that
[13:18] Jedburgh Dagger (jedburgh30.dagger): torii are bad
[13:18] Mosseveno Tenk: yeah
[13:18] Mosseveno Tenk: so that brings me to
[13:18] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): Also the sculpt I rezzed had a VERY odd bug
[13:18] Mosseveno Tenk: OILING FESTIVAL
[13:18] Steadman Kondor wonders how mr tenk mimicked the old accounting system
[13:18] Fauve Aeon: I made my snow squirrel out of cubes and they each counted .5 LI when linked so not sure why that happened.
[13:18] Avariel Falcon: ~ Yay! ~
[13:18] Azura Loring: Yay!
[13:18] Mosseveno Tenk: i checked the accounting on the railway uprights in canals.
[13:18] Mosseveno Tenk: 42 old accounting
[13:19] Mosseveno Tenk: 1500+ new accounting
[13:19] Jedburgh Dagger (jedburgh30.dagger): yikes
[13:19] Gabrielle Riel: holy…
[13:19] Avariel Falcon: O_O
[13:19] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): If anyone is intersted: The script in the sculpt had llPlaySound in it
[13:19] Tepic Harlequin: blimey!
[13:19] Mosseveno Tenk: they gotta go.
[13:19] Bookworm Hienrichs: Gad zooks!
[13:19] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): And instead of playing a sound once it played it in loop
[13:19] Avariel Falcon gets more dynamite
[13:19] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): ONLY in that sculpt
[13:19] Coleen (coleen88mcgee): stretching sculpts is bad too
[13:19] Dr. Kristos Sonnerstein (kristos.sonnerstein): Damn
[13:19] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): So yes…we better just forget about those silly old things
[13:19] Coleen (coleen88mcgee): hands Avariel more dynamite
[13:19] Mosseveno Tenk: i’ve been shown proposals on those before, but i do hate to get rid of thse, they do have a sense of drama
[13:19] Azura Loring nods
[13:20] Mosseveno Tenk: so i’ll be derezzing the voom acid vats for display space for proposals on that
[13:20] Mosseveno Tenk: but keeping the windmill
[13:20] Mosseveno Tenk: only other thing i have is the static bridge at the end of upper riemann street, that is the cleanslate steel bridge. i’ts looking dated.
[13:20] Mosseveno Tenk: and i know how much you love bridges
[13:21] Fauve Aeon: <3 bridges!
[13:21] Rusalka Writer: Indeed.
[13:21] Sera (serafina.puchkina) laughs
[13:21] Azura Loring: when not falling through them ….
[13:21] Edan Borrelly smiles
[13:21] Nathan Adored: kersplooosh!!!
[13:21] Russell A. Firecrest (adventureruss): Bridges are fun!
[13:21] Azura Loring: yep!
[13:21] Mosseveno Tenk: so i am at the end of my notes on what i needed to talke about, let’s talk about what you want and what you want for oiling festival
[13:21] Rusalka Writer: Or crashing into the railing.
[13:21] SigmundSloth: Squeak!
[13:21] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): This time of the year its more of a crack
[13:21] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): When you fall through
[13:21] Mosseveno Tenk: ah, THAW
[13:21] Russell A. Firecrest (adventureruss): Fun stuffs!
[13:21] Azura Loring: aye, just hurts more
[13:22] Mosseveno Tenk: go devil races are Feb 5th at noon
[13:22] Emerson Lighthouse: yes
[13:22] Emerson Lighthouse: Get out and practice
[13:22] Mosseveno Tenk: and i would expect things to start thawing out quickly afterwards
[13:22] Emerson Lighthouse: the canals are tricky
[13:22] Azura Loring: hmm where get those, or have to make ?
[13:22] Emerson Lighthouse: Ying Industries
[13:22] Emerson Lighthouse: Kimika makes them
[13:22] Tepic Harlequin: there will be an urchin Go devil this year too….
[13:22] Azura Loring nods. “Thank you”
[13:22] Emerson Lighthouse: don’t have a LM
[13:23] Azura Loring: Me knows where it be
[13:23] Emerson Lighthouse: They are really fun
[13:23] Avariel Falcon: Tepic made wonderful go-devils!
[13:23] Russell A. Firecrest (adventureruss): They are indeed fun.
[13:23] Jedburgh Dagger (jedburgh30.dagger): This year it’s a new modle
[13:23] Emerson Lighthouse: Prizes for the first three finishers
[13:24] Scottie Melnik: Kimika has a stall in Savoury Street market. If you can’t find it there, there’s a probably an LM to her main shop.
[13:24] Azura Loring nods
[13:24] Mosseveno Tenk: what do we want for small builds and a 2D?
[13:25] Fauve Aeon: 2D suggestion, Babbage tourism poster?
[13:25] Mosseveno Tenk: if you don’t know, oiling festival is a month long building contest.
[13:25] Emerson Lighthouse: what kind of board games can you get around here?
[13:25] Mosseveno Tenk: don’t think we’ve had that one in a while, ok
[13:25] Avariel Falcon: Is there a special Babbage chess?
[13:25] Steadman Kondor: monopoly new babbage edition?
[13:25] Mosseveno Tenk: chess set?
[13:25] Mosseveno Tenk: oh my
[13:26] Azura Loring giggles.
[13:26] Emerson Lighthouse: I would buy a New Babbage chess set
[13:26] Tepic Harlequin: small builds… the City can be dangerous, always wondered if anyme makes protective armour?
[13:26] Fauve Aeon: 3D new fish for 7s or whichever game is most played/we can dev for
[13:26] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan) ‘s ears perk “Building contest ey…” he mutters to himself
[13:26] Steadman Kondor: you’d be the rooky, mr emerson!
[13:26] Emerson Lighthouse: cause I sure can’t make one
[13:26] Avariel Falcon: The chess room at the power station needs decorating
[13:26] Scottie Melnik: This is stuff to be set out, right? Like benches, kiosks, light poles, etc?
[13:26] Mosseveno Tenk: are there impact restrictions on 7seas fish?
[13:26] Fauve Aeon: not that I know of but I can check the dev kit for specs
[13:27] Azura Loring: Most of the items are wearables aren’t they?
[13:27] Emerson Lighthouse: I’d stand on top of the rook tower and look knightly, Steadman
[13:27] Fauve Aeon: I’d like to sponsor that one for something ‘with tentacles’ :)
[13:27] Fauve Aeon: the rezzable 7s fishes are a pic on a prim, 1 LI
[13:27] Mosseveno Tenk: tepic’s suggestion makes a good wearable
[13:27] Steadman Kondor imagines a knight perched precariously on the top of the rook
[13:28] Mosseveno Tenk: i fish has to be under 1 impact? didn’t htey used to be real fish?
[13:28] Emerson Lighthouse sneaks out but promises to read the notes
[13:28] Mosseveno Tenk remebers them swimming around peoples headds
[13:28] Mosseveno Tenk: so long emerson
[13:28] Fauve Aeon: the wearables are real fish, the ones you send to aquaria/ponds are the flat ones so both
[13:28] Azura Loring: Hmm I have the wiggyfish
[13:28] Mosseveno Tenk: so you need to build a fish and take a picture of it?
[13:29] Nathan Adored: it would be interesting to remind ourselves of all the different equatic critters that have been established to be in New Babbage waters that we can make 7seas fishies out of
[13:29] Beatrixe Rouse (beatrixerouse): Been awhile since I’ve seen a srizzle snake
[13:29] Fauve Aeon: I assume the wearables are like any wearable 1 piece item, 255 limit and yes, 3D plus side photo
[13:29] Russell A. Firecrest (adventureruss): Ah, I do have a question.
[13:29] Fauve Aeon: but the new prim accounting could be encouraged here as proof of concept :)
[13:30] Mosseveno Tenk: and you can have some descriptive information on the photo?
[13:30] Mosseveno Tenk: mm. i want to see more water towers
[13:30] Fauve Aeon: no, the photo is what ‘swims’ in the aquariums/ponds but I assume we would need an illustration as well with text for display
[13:30] Mosseveno Tenk: anything to get more hardware on the roofs
[13:30] Scottie Melnik: The rooftop type?
[13:30] Azura Loring: The only one specific to Babbage I have seen is this wiggyfish
[13:30] Beatrixe Rouse (beatrixerouse): We don’t have a good modular pipe system do we or is there one I don’t know about
[13:31] Zantyago Mannonen: so watertowers are on the list?
[13:31] Russell A. Firecrest (adventureruss): I wouldn’t mind a water tower.
[13:31] Edan Borrelly nods
[13:31] Rusalka Writer: I could do a water tower.
[13:31] Mosseveno Tenk: yeah, i’m still using a sculpt pipe.
[13:31] Russell A. Firecrest (adventureruss): I shall see if I can add one after the thaw frees some room.
[13:31] Zantyago Mannonen: I could make some piping, if you tell me the dimensions of the sections
[13:31] Beatrixe Rouse (beatrixerouse): We need pipes, and maybe storm drains for the side of houses, the only ones I see are the sculpts
[13:31] Tepic Harlequin: water towers! wonderful for swimming in the summer!
[13:31] Aberdon Enigma: I’ve got somg goo meh pipsI can recommend.
[13:31] Fauve Aeon: I have a water tower out but it was either the 4LI low impact or a 60LI version, nothing between so I;m looking for a new one, they make great photo taking spots if they are climbable or have a sit in.
[13:31] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): I did quite a few valves and pipes for my engines and the boiler.
[13:31] Aberdon Enigma: Pardon, let me try again.
[13:32] Mosseveno Tenk: i’ve set a few out but htey vanish quickly at distance
[13:32] Aberdon Enigma: I have some good mesh pipes I can recommend.
[13:32] Fauve Aeon: mine too :(
[13:32] Fauve Aeon: we need some not too primmy but still detailed water towers :D
[13:32] Mosseveno Tenk: so i’m hearing there’s enough piping systems available? we don’t need that?
[13:32] Zantyago Mannonen: https://www.google.com.uy/imgres?imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.intltravelnews.com%2Fimages%2F2012%2F06%2Fbig%2Fwitw.jpg&imgrefurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.intltravelnews.com%2F2012%2F07%2Finvercargill-water-tower&docid=IuH1FFrhGNGUxM&tbnid=gv9nn1IO79BZvM%3A&vet=1&w=522&h=600&safe=off&bih=628&biw=1280&q=water%20tower%2019th%20century&ved=0ahUKEwj_2YT9l9TRAhVMF5AKHZSoDF4QMwgcKAIwAg&iact=mrc&uact=8 a very fancy water tower
[13:33] Tepic Harlequin: so pipes and drains that don’t vanish a couple of feet away?
[13:33] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): Mine is not a system, but could be turned into one I guess
[13:33] Mosseveno Tenk: how about drain pipes?
[13:33] Aberdon Enigma: I like the idea of water towers.
[13:33] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): They’d need a proper LOD structure
[13:33] Azura Loring could always use good pipes and such
[13:33] Russell A. Firecrest (adventureruss): If pipes and attachments are being recommended, could they be put in the group? Or possibly on the Web thing?
[13:33] Mosseveno Tenk: the kind you could put against a building?
[13:33] Nathan Adored: wow, yes that’s a very pretty one
[13:33] Fauve Aeon: all the builds for this Oiling should reflect the new accounting system, I am thinking?
[13:33] Beatrixe Rouse (beatrixerouse): Yeah the only ones of that in town are the sculpt that Watson made
[13:34] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): That is indeed a beautiful tower…
[13:34] Jedburgh Dagger (jedburgh30.dagger): LOD is gonna be a big thing
[13:34] Tepic Harlequin: and if done for the Oiling Festival, they become City property, yes?
[13:34] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): I’d say a rectangular shape for the lower LOD levels would do nicely
[13:34] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): And would retain the outlines
[13:34] Mosseveno Tenk checks marketplace and easily finds mesh pipe kits
[13:34] Mosseveno Tenk: ok. drain pipes
[13:34] Nathan Adored: presumab ly that tower actually has real rooms behind the windows, instead of all that being faux windows to hide more water tank
[13:34] Mosseveno Tenk: down spouts
[13:35] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): I now have an itch to make that … *chuckles*
[13:35] Mosseveno Tenk: do we have a fire hydrant?
[13:35] Beatrixe Rouse (beatrixerouse): Yes
[13:35] Scottie Melnik: No, we just let stuff burn.
[13:35] Tepic Harlequin: most of the bottom section would be the pumps, Nathan
[13:35] Beatrixe Rouse (beatrixerouse): But could make more
[13:35] Mosseveno Tenk: how come i can’t picture it?
[13:35] Mosseveno Tenk: right. i have never seen a fire hydrant here.
[13:36] Zantyago Mannonen: we are going to need pumps
[13:36] Avariel Falcon: In the UK they tend to be a ground cover that a stand pipe is fitted to
[13:36] Rusalka Writer: We have had fires…
[13:36] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): Steam or electric powered?
[13:36] Zantyago Mannonen: there’s a stallion here that can make pumps
[13:36] Mosseveno Tenk: and taht could be street mount or wall mount
[13:36] Nathan Adored: well, all that pumping machinery inside would still be interesting for inquisitive urchins to explore, but presumably there’d still be room for other stuff, like offices maybe
[13:36] Fauve Aeon: water tower inspirations http://d2jv9003bew7ag.cloudfront.net/uploads/Bernd-and-Hilla-Becher-Wassertu%CC%88rme-Water-Towers-1980.-Courtesy-of-mo-artgallery.nl_-865×577.jpg
[13:37] Mosseveno Tenk: i don’t like getting too many pumps in one sim. *koffs*
[13:37] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): We could use one of my engines to drive a pump (I could make a pump, probably a radial rotary type).
[13:37] Mosseveno Tenk: they’re pretty, but there are consequences
[13:37] Nathan Adored: ooooo, I like the upper left the most. :D
[13:37] Fauve Aeon: if not climbable, with sits in the lookouts or on walkways at least?
[13:37] Russell A. Firecrest (adventureruss): Hmm. Some of those could be made in a fairly low impact way.
[13:37] Tepic Harlequin: Most UK water towers didn’t have other rooms, nathan, was just built like that for show…
[13:37] Nathan Adored: pity
[13:37] Edan Borrelly: climbable would be very fun
[13:37] Nathan Adored: but then, New Babbage isn;t the UK, either…. so all bets are off
[13:37] Steadman Kondor: how does water get in those towers? they’d have to be pumped into them i guess
[13:37] Coleen (coleen88mcgee): I have this set Hawksley Watermains Standpipe made by Mr MOrnington is that what you mean?
[13:38] Mosseveno Tenk: anything that stays in motion i keep an eye on
[13:38] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): http://egykor.hu/images/2010/original/budapest-svabhegyi-viztorony.jpg
[13:38] Avariel Falcon: https://www.quora.com/Why-doesnt-the-UK-have-fire-hydrants
[13:38] Russell A. Firecrest (adventureruss): I do have a little question. What is happening with the sewer system?
[13:38] Nathan Adored: oh, wow! :D
[13:38] Zantyago Mannonen: who would be living in the water tower anyway? besides the animaniacs that is
[13:38] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): This one is here in Hungary
[13:38] Mosseveno Tenk: mm, i suppose there’s pipes under the streets
[13:38] Mosseveno Tenk: right… everyone likes water towers…
[13:38] Mosseveno Tenk checks that one off
[13:38] Azura Loring giggles.
[13:38] Edan Borrelly thinks of new tunnels to explore
[13:38] Mosseveno Tenk: they look great in daredevil
[13:39] Avariel Falcon: Pipes run through the steam tunnels
[13:39] Fauve Aeon: I like the chess/games idea
[13:39] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): There could be a boiler+engine+pump in the bottom, or it can simply be electric with a late 19th century style electric drive
[13:39] Nathan Adored: tunnels, with presumably long-hidden rooms with dark secrets to blunder across while exploring
[13:39] Mosseveno Tenk: i’ll think about pipes. if i can’t find a full perm set, might need it
[13:39] Edan Borrelly smiles
[13:39] Zantyago Mannonen: madular systen of sewers!
[13:39] Zantyago Mannonen: we need new sewers
[13:40] Mosseveno Tenk: always need new sewers
[13:40] Mosseveno Tenk: want to try that one again? not enough skill level last time it was proposed, i think
[13:40] Fauve Aeon: we revamped the mine tunnerls that were old on one of our parcels, people are discovering them :)
[13:40] Avariel Falcon notes that the sewer has been edging closer to the power station
[13:40] Mosseveno Tenk pencils
[13:40] Dr. Kristos Sonnerstein (kristos.sonnerstein): Were all water towers surrounded with a brick building at the time or were there some of those revenge of the cooper on stilts too?
[13:40] Mosseveno Tenk: i got one….
[13:40] Mosseveno Tenk: storefronts?
[13:41] Azura Loring: Ohh interesting
[13:41] Avariel Falcon: That sounds good
[13:41] Scottie Melnik: That would be really nice.
[13:41] Mosseveno Tenk: it’s just the front wall that is interesting. could go onto anything
[13:41] Azura Loring nods
[13:41] Tepic Harlequin: sort of pre-fab shops?
[13:41] Mosseveno Tenk: nice meshy pane windows
[13:41] Mosseveno Tenk: the storefront is the only hard part, really
[13:41] Fauve Aeon: ((smol panes))
[13:42] Scottie Melnik: I think that’s a great idea.
[13:42] Mosseveno Tenk: i would hope any one of us could build a crackerbox by now
[13:42] Mr Underby (yoyo.underby): *cough*
[13:42] Bookworm Hienrichs snerks.
[13:42] Mosseveno Tenk gives mr underby The Look
[13:42] Fauve Aeon: if they are low LI, people could plug them in between their builds to add cohesiveness
[13:42] Mosseveno Tenk: yeah
[13:42] Azura Loring noms popcorn
[13:42] Dr. Kristos Sonnerstein (kristos.sonnerstein): Haha
[13:43] Tepic Harlequin: crackerbox?
[13:43] Mosseveno Tenk: they’d make the street level build more interesting, even if non functional
[13:43] Mosseveno Tenk: crackerbox build is a flat sided buidling with a complicated photo texture
[13:43] Mosseveno Tenk: like we used to do
[13:43] Fauve Aeon: yes, especially if they had sign options for ‘closed for renovation, danger, do not enter, condemned, haha
[13:43] Tepic Harlequin: ah!
[13:43] Mosseveno Tenk: i only do that on fakes these days. and most are condemned.
[13:43] Azura Loring: Cube with texture and just used as filler ?
[13:43] Aberdon Enigma: If it’s easy to change the texture on the windows, the build could change theme easily.
[13:43] Russell A. Firecrest (adventureruss): I think my house is probably based on one of those.
[13:43] Mosseveno Tenk: yeah, those
[13:43] Azura Loring nods
[13:44] Russell A. Firecrest (adventureruss): I am trying to add a bit more texture to it over time.
[13:44] Fauve Aeon: well interesting cubes, they can be multi-prim with cubes counting at .5 LI when linked now?
[13:44] Mosseveno Tenk: or just flat walls. no 3d texture to it except the door. how we used to build
[13:44] Fauve Aeon: and bump/speculars, fancy textures, a combination?
[13:44] Mosseveno Tenk: you can build with mesh cubes. that’s why miko’s name is on all the sidewalks. i build with a cube she gave me.
[13:45] Fauve Aeon: if they are flat with no texture or physical bump-outs will they look dated?
[13:45] Nathan Adored: yes, mesh cubes can be two triangles per face.
[13:45] Mosseveno Tenk: just like i was doing regular inworld building. just import the shapes you need
[13:45] Fauve Aeon: so multi cubes to give some dimension
[13:45] Fauve Aeon: yes, it’s a good compromise and can still build inworld :)
[13:45] Mosseveno Tenk: yes fauve, flat walled buidlings look very dated in this town. if you don’t know what i’m talking about, there’s a well known sim you could go visit for examples
[13:46] Zantyago Mannonen: how about some filler builds that are better than a box with textures platered on?
[13:46] Mosseveno Tenk: we still got a lot of them, but they aren’t lining the streets anymore
[13:46] Mosseveno Tenk: fake builds. ok
[13:46] Gabrielle Riel’s lips twitch
[13:46] Fauve Aeon snickers
[13:46] Mosseveno Tenk shakes his finger at Riel
[13:46] Beatrixe Rouse (beatrixerouse): Babbage era Antenna’s
[13:46] Mosseveno Tenk: 15 minutes left. what else you got?
[13:47] Azura Loring: Hmm fake builds that aren’t so fake maybe? Like leave out internal walls and such ?
[13:47] Nathan Adored: in any event, having a filler building you can actually walk into and poke around in has its plusses.
[13:47] Mosseveno Tenk: fake builkds have no interiors, yes
[13:47] Fauve Aeon: another plant discovery? 3D and 2D picture?
[13:47] Zantyago Mannonen: well the “fake builds” could be functional, but they would have to be very light
[13:47] Mosseveno Tenk: there’s lots of uses for fake builds
[13:47] Azura Loring nods “I will have to work on a couple.
[13:48] Tepic Harlequin: fake storefronts could front a real building… my home city has medevil buildings with regency frontages….
[13:48] Azura Loring nods
[13:49] Mosseveno Tenk: it would be nice to have more fake buildings in my inventory that didn’t have modern signage on them
[13:49] Azura Loring makes note to also attempt storfronts
[13:49] Zantyago Mannonen: I would like to participate
[13:49] Fauve Aeon: they can also be little interesting nooks to plug in, I uses this to create a little alley, and it has sits in it https://www.flickr.com/photos/8f8/31384064612/in/dateposted/
[13:49] Mosseveno Tenk: need another 2D
[13:49] Nathan Adored: might also be worth making,,,, facilities as filler.
[13:49] Tepic Harlequin: Passports?
[13:50] Zantyago Mannonen: there’s an amazing site I can get textures from of facdes and such
[13:50] Azura Loring: Eepp!
[13:50] Fauve Aeon: ooh, I like passports
[13:50] Zantyago Mannonen: i can delete the offending modern parts from them
[13:50] Mosseveno Tenk: isn’t there a passport for the train station?
[13:50] Aberdon Enigma: Me too.
[13:50] Beatrixe Rouse (beatrixerouse): Oh yeah
[13:50] Gabrielle Riel: Yes there is Mr. Tenk
[13:50] Azura Loring: Gah will need ter find gfood counterfit ones !
[13:50] Fauve Aeon: what about a stamp game of sightseeing?
[13:50] Gabrielle Riel: They made them for each community in the system
[13:50] Mosseveno Tenk: tepic, maybe check with nathaniel about the existing passports
[13:50] Fauve Aeon: where you get your ‘passport’ and go to places to get it ‘stamped’
[13:51] Dr. Kristos Sonnerstein (kristos.sonnerstein): What about the stamps themselves?
[13:51] Dr. Kristos Sonnerstein (kristos.sonnerstein): For 2d
[13:51] Mosseveno Tenk: visas?
[13:51] Tepic Harlequin: Official visa stamps?
[13:51] Jedburgh Dagger (jedburgh30.dagger): We did stamps a while back
[13:51] Azura Loring: Really? I haven’t seen those.
[13:51] Fauve Aeon: a prize for completed stamped passports, getting all the stamps.
[13:51] Zantyago Mannonen: something like a lapel Pin as jewelery
[13:51] Mosseveno Tenk: postage stamps, think one person wehnt for a rubber stamp
[13:51] Zantyago Mannonen: something very babbagian
[13:52] Fauve Aeon: cravat pin and brooch?
[13:52] Bookworm Hienrichs: What about calling/business cards?
[13:52] Zantyago Mannonen: could be both
[13:52] Mosseveno Tenk: calling cards?
[13:52] Tepic Harlequin: that’s a good one!
[13:52] Aberdon Enigma: Flat textures to go on manhole covers?
[13:52] Bookworm Hienrichs: Cards ladies would leave when they called at another house.
[13:52] Scottie Melnik: But where would we actually use those? Where they’d been seen daily?
[13:52] Fauve Aeon: I like calling cards
[13:52] Dr. Kristos Sonnerstein (kristos.sonnerstein): What I was thinking was rubber stamps for different places for passports, etc
[13:52] Zantyago Mannonen: something you wear in your suit hat says “I live in NB”
[13:53] Mosseveno Tenk: think visas needs to be addressed by the railway boys
[13:53] Russell A. Firecrest (adventureruss): Ooo, fancy.
[13:53] Fauve Aeon: the stamps could be both a 2d and a 3d, and a collecting game
[13:53] Scottie Melnik: I’m not trying to shoot anything down, just thinking out loud.
[13:53] Mr Underby (yoyo.underby): the soot already says that
[13:53] Mosseveno Tenk: to see if it can be incorporated into the passports
[13:53] Mosseveno Tenk: rebreathers?
[13:53] Dr. Kristos Sonnerstein (kristos.sonnerstein): Hah
[13:54] Mosseveno Tenk: air filters that can be picked up at the immigration stations?
[13:54] Tepic Harlequin: comemerative jewellry could be a small build?
[13:54] Mosseveno Tenk: ok
[13:54] Fauve Aeon: 10th anniversary pin
[13:55] Nathan Adored: hmmmmm… New Babbage earrings
[13:55] Edan Borrelly: something special, like the Eiffel Tower from the Paris sims?
[13:55] Azura Loring: rebreaters ter git all that air you can’t see out?
[13:55] Nathan Adored: New Babbage charm-bracelets
[13:55] Steadman Kondor: like oxygen tanks?
[13:55] Jedburgh Dagger (jedburgh30.dagger): Soot inducers
[13:55] Beatrixe Rouse (beatrixerouse): I can’t find a good mesh antenna either. We had telegraph poles awhile back but did we do antenna’s or know of some good ones?
[13:55] Scottie Melnik: Ooh, or like those little snow globe things I’ve been seeing around. Or models or whatever.
[13:55] Edan Borrelly: Something to put on the mantel
[13:56] Mosseveno Tenk: lets keep the commemorative items to jewelry
[13:56] Azura Loring nods
[13:56] Nathan Adored: hmmmmm…. Town Hall in a snowglobe?
[13:56] Fauve Aeon: snow globe with trolley model in? Sooty, snowy or clear. :D
[13:56] Mosseveno Tenk: got one
[13:56] Azura Loring: shake it up and the flames come out?
[13:56] Nathan Adored giggles and chortles
[13:56] Azura Loring giggles.
[13:56] Dr. Aly Nightfire (aleric.nightfire): you could have some sort of 10th anniversary stick pin /lapel pin
[13:56] Mosseveno Tenk: i gto a snowglobe from the first oiling festival
[13:56] Fauve Aeon: I like the pin idea
[13:57] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): The pin sounds nice
[13:57] Mosseveno Tenk: stick pins seperate from jewelry?
[13:57] Dr. Aly Nightfire (aleric.nightfire): yes something that could be worn by everyone
[13:57] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan) nods
[13:57] Edan Borrelly: yes
[13:57] Mosseveno Tenk: ok
[13:57] Mr Underby (yoyo.underby): Agreed
[13:57] Dr. Aly Nightfire (aleric.nightfire): either in a hat, lapel etc
[13:58] Mosseveno Tenk: dagon temple stick pins
[13:58] Fauve Aeon: commemorative pin…needs to be mod though so people can adapt it to wear if they have non-standard avi
[13:58] Bookworm Hienrichs: Heh.
[13:58] Mosseveno Tenk: at least we’ll know your affiliation
[13:58] Russell A. Firecrest (adventureruss): I would like something like that.
[13:58] Nathan Adored: hmmmmm… dagon snowglobes
[13:58] Azura Loring: Yay! Dagon!
[13:58] Nathan Adored: would be delightfullyu creapy, that. :D
[13:58] Azura Loring giggles.
[13:59] Scottie Melnik: Church of the Build snowglobe, raining green Matrix-y numbers.
[13:59] Mosseveno Tenk: you really want souvenier snow globes?
[13:59] Dr. Kristos Sonnerstein (kristos.sonnerstein): That would be fun
[13:59] Mosseveno Tenk: ok
[13:59] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): Remember steam boy?
[13:59] Azura Loring nods
[13:59] Mosseveno Tenk: looking good on small builds
[13:59] E’Quinn McMillan (equine.mcmillan): The steam sphere in that was cool.
[13:59] Mosseveno Tenk: 1 minute left
[13:59] Bookworm Hienrichs: Quick non-Oiling Festival question. Tales of new Babbage, Volume 4 – will there ever be one, or have we gone off that?
[13:59] Mosseveno Tenk: hmmm
[13:59] Russell A. Firecrest (adventureruss): Ooo yes!
[13:59] Russell A. Firecrest (adventureruss): And voices and such.
[14:00] Fauve Aeon: if yes, then cover proposals for a 2D?
[14:00] Nathan Adored: never too late for another New Babbage bookworm
[14:00] Mosseveno Tenk: lemme think about that. if we do, we sure as hell ain’t going with Lulu press again.
[14:00] Nathan Adored: *book. (dern autocomplete)
[14:00] Mosseveno Tenk: those make me cringe
[14:00] Mosseveno Tenk: pretty sure i know how to make an ebook by now
[14:00] Mosseveno Tenk: how about we call it More Tales From New Babbage?
[14:01] Mosseveno Tenk: cleanslate owns the others
[14:01] Mosseveno Tenk: in case you didn’t know.. that doesn’t go to me.
[14:01] Russell A. Firecrest (adventureruss): Hmm
[14:01] Fauve Aeon: origin stories? before Tales, some history?
[14:01] Mosseveno Tenk: right, meeting is officially over but i’ll hang around until i crash
I like the idea of some 10th Anniversary souvenirs. I think the snowglobe Tenk has might be mine. Had the Town Hall (3 ago?) inside. But it was all prim. Could do some nice detailed work in a snowglobe now. If you wanted to get expansive, have a whole set: historical builds or things. Lord Smashington in a snowglobe, or a miniature Church of the Builder, or Piermont Landing. That sort of thing? Make it a quest hunt or a gacha or something.
Also like the idea of a 10th Anniversary pin.
Which reminds me I must send out that plaque.
Watertowers sounds like a good idea, also like the thought of mesh facade store fronts something that’s 1LI or less that you can retexture would be fun to build.
