”Kane Qork Memory Recording #000-001”
Recorded to wax memory cylinder.
I have been given new life and new shape by Masters Klaus Wulffenbacher and Mason, Scientist.
My stone gargoyle body was drained of every last bit of enchantment, when young Gilhooly the mouse activated an anti-magic device, which harmonized and resonated with a similar bracelet-format device which Lo had given me earlier. This bracelet device played havoc with my ability to repair my stone body and fused itself within, completely wiping any magical essence from it.
My stone body remains as a lifeless statue.
But through the diligent research of Master Mason, that which makes me Kane was recovered from the ether and installed into the “brain” of this steam-powered automated raven.
It is quite functional, as bodies go. It has the added advantage that it is not subject to the dearth of magic in New Babbage. It is refuled with coal or other combustibles.
It will be quite a change, but I am pleased. I already managed to aid some youngsters who had been kidnapped by a creature they addressed as “Gloom”.
Lo Artful was told that she was the “Moonchild”, who would usher out the world of magic and bring forth the prominence of technology. It seems that I am following in her footsteps.

i have made it safely to steelhead, where i hope to learn more about my origins. i shall miss you dreadfully
for what girl wouldn’t want a dragon for a friend? i always liked you in that shape. and as a gargoyle, too! tho’ i shall like you always, as you are good hearted, whatever form you take.
i am dreadfully sorry about that bracelet and its effects… i didn’t know! i have a rather growing list of these mistakes. i am very glad you are alright tho’… you and i shall have to go flying, when i return from steelhead!
