With New Babbage continuing to expand at a breakneck pace, diplomatic overtures have been arriving in the City at an unprecedented rate. Busy with a multitude of critical issues, Clockwinder Tenk has asked Maceholder Cleanslate to conduct a whirlwind tour of the other steamlands, as well as an undisclosed group of mainland areas interesting in establishing contact with the Civilized World. While his exact itinerary is being kept under wraps, sources have confirmed that Cleanslate will visit Caledon, Londinium, and the newly announced city of New Brunswick.
With tensions rising and reports of impending skulduggery in the city, Cleanslate was reluctant to abandon his post. Tenk, worried about Cleanslate’s recent workload, insisted on the change of pace. The Clockwinder has denied all rumors that Cleanslate is establishing a covert intelligence network, a string of coaling stations for the New Babbage navy, or making contact with elements of a secret society dedicated to the worship of the elder gods. “He’s just going on a little vacation! Will you people get a life?” Tenk is quoted as saying.
No information was released about the date of Cleanslate’s return.
