Baron Klaus Wulfenbach sat at his desk in the Steelhead Consulate, going over the thick sheaf of reports from his Babbage Liaison Officer, Fraulein Hienrichs. Strange machines (again), missing goods…friends in danger now, or going to be.
Yet only a meter or two below his desk in the emergency laboratory in the basement, Doctor Sonnerstein was examining yet another Steelhead patient. The other doctor used both Science and Magic for his analyses in an urgent race to analyse the mysterious necrotic illness the elven boy, Loki Gearhead, had brought to the northern city. Not even Darien Mason‘s reanimation serum had affected the deterioration on one so afflicted.
How could this be related to the strange markings Manager Eclipse found around that laboratory? Could it also be related to the reported disturbances around Brunel Hall? How else could these alleged ‘undead’ have shown up in the pristine St. Helens neighbourhood if not brought from a known spawning point?
He scowled once again at the reports. He had specifically asked Manager Eclipse to seal Steelhead’s borders. Whatever this was, even if it had started in New Babbage, it had changed into something different here — and it could not be allowed to infect the rest of the Steamlands, not while he could do anything about it. There was too much at stake to risk travelling to New Babbage.
‘Be careful,’ he said to the signature on the reports. ‘All of you, for the love of Science, be careful.’
((I have to admit, I’ve read this a few times and I am a little puzzled. Has steelhead sealed its boarders just to New Babbage or to all of the steamlands? Is the implication that the yearly zombie plague spread there? I am exceedingly puzzled. It feels like perhaps there is too much information being left out here and it makes it difficult to respond or react to. ))
((The virus was taken over by a scamp to Steelhead and it has altered somewhat due to his fiddlings with it. The borders of Steelhead are tightly controlled to prevent it spreading to the other Steamlands. This isn’t a “blame New Babbage” fest as you’re making it sound))
(( woah! I was asking for clarification because I don’t understand the post. Not at all implying a blame fest! I literally did not understand what was being said here. Is this the baron saying that formal announcements have been sent out requesting help? Is this just an FYI. Is it being implied that the dark aether Is causing pestilence? I don’t think any of that is an accusation being thrown, kristos, and I do not appriciate you turning it into that.))
((My apologies, I took how you said it wrong. I think it was just an FYI, but the Baron would have to answer that for sure. The virus is in no way tied to the Dark Aether))
I would come over to help, but the portal is down so access to Steelhead is somewhat restricted.
