Mr. Mornington was in his office at Brunel Hall when a crackly incoming message activated his sub-aetheric receiver. Of all the things on Mornington’s list of things to be desired, at the very top was the desire to avoid silly interruptions. It was busy hotelier time — accounts and ledgers time — not a time for crank calls from the fourth dimension.

Arconus Arkright: Mr. Mornington… Come in, Mr. Mornington. This is Arconus Arkright. Can you hear me? Come in, Mr. Mornington, please respond. Come in, sir. Mr. Mor–

VICTOR GET OFF YOUR SPOTTY BUM AND ANSWER ME!!!!! I’M IN TROUBLE!!!

Ever so slightly annoyed, Mr. Mornington set his work aside and grabbed the receiver.

Victor1st Mornington: Do you really think yelling and being abusive is the way to get what you want in this world, Mr. Arkright?

Arconus Arkright: Got an answer out of you, didn’t I? I knew you were listening.

Victor1st Mornington: Can I help you with something?

Arconus Arkright: Oh, indeed you can. First, I would just like to say that I am through playing around with your equipment in Fullerton House, I swear.

Victor1st Mornington: Oh, good lord, what have you done?

Arconus Arkright: It’s tricky, that bit. You know those safeguards you put in place to make sure no one accidentally wound up, you know, elsewhere?

Victor1st Mornington: You didn’t bypass them, did you?

Arconus Arkright: I did, actually. Rather clever, I thought.

Victor1st Mornington: *Not* the word I would use. Where are you?

Arconus Arkright: Another tricky bit, I’m afraid.

Victor1st Mornington: Losing… patience… fast!

Arconus Arkright: I’ve… gone somewhere. Or rather, I’ve been sent somewhere. Or maybe “transported somewhere” is the correct phrase.

Victor1st Mornington: Coordinates? Name?

Arconus Arkright: I’m in a place called Missing Mile, North Carolina.

Victor1st Mornington: North America? That’s not so…

Arconus Arkright: In the 21st century.

Victor1st Mornington: Inconvenient, but still not a problem.

Arconus Arkright: In what appears to be a parallel universe.

Victor1st Mornington: WHAT?!? How?!? The console’s not supposed to do that! What the hell did you do?!?

Arconus Arkright: Did I mention my not monkeying around with your equipment anymore? Always a silver lining, Victor. NOW GET ME OUT OF HERE!!

Next: Part 1 — “Everything is Missing” or “The Skulk, The Swipe and The Sewer”

((Missing Mile is the setting of the book Lost Souls by Poppy Z. Brite (I haven’t read it). It’s also a divinely seedy town in the Soap sim full of trigger-happy cops, drug dealers and juvenile delinquents. It’s an impressive build that is largely the work of Loch Newchurch. As in Babbage, role play is optional but the similarities pretty much end there. MM is very R-rated, occasionally drifting into NC-17 territory, but there will be none of that here. They try to keep things realistic (no flying allowed), but mutants and zombies do crop up once in a while. While token efforts were made to bring the joys of airships, automatons and Victorian finery to the benighted citizens of that community, the dangers of cultural contamination are not to be treated lightly.))

((I’ve been to Soap once way back when it was Virtue City, a superhero RP city, Miss Gizzy had been RPing there and was showing me around a bit, I’ll have to check out it’s new incarnation sometime))

((That’s hilarious! Looking at it now, the fact that a place called “Virtue City” once sat on that land is just too funny!))

((well it was kind of post apocalyptic looking, lots of ruined abandoned buildings, really kind of odd setting for superheroes))
