Wood or Iron

What do you figure Cadmus? Around a hundred and forty yards? I’m going 5-wood, the wind is against me.

That explains the strange golf balls floating in the canal…

Well, the ones marked SSE an the ones with a harpoon drawn on em, the others, who knows?

Oh, by the way, if anyone is interested in bulk buying slightly used golf balls, ask any urchin, we got em!

I’ll take you up on those balls; I’m thinking a couple a hundred a month through to Thanksgiving ought to do.

By the way, you ever caddie?

Naw, yer have ter keep a straight face when caddying, an with some of them golfers, it’s more’n i can manage…. Dour Willie might, for a fee, his look of disgust and the tssh sound he makes when yer slice are a wonder to behold!

Now ter business, there’ll be a bucket of 25 a week on yer doorstep, payment in beer or consumables, but no, repeat no pies! Oh…. the turtles are back in town, so if any of them balls feel sort of leathery when yer pick em up, don’t hit em….

I’m really more of a hooker than a slicer so things should be fine with Dour Willie—besides I have a little something that should turn his frown upsidedown.

If a scoff of greasy eggs and sausage is to your liking I’ll leave an extra plate on the kitchen counter Monday through Friday—coffee too. I tend to be an early riser so if Im not at home just let yourself in. The key is under the barrel by the back door. Try not to let my little monkey Vagus out.

PS: Don’t tell the other urchins about the key. Nothing worse than coming home to a house that’s been stripped of food, drink and leaf.
