The flagship store for Edward Pearse’s clothing emporium of Pearse’d & Cut is located on the corner of Perdido Street and Jefferson Way in Babbage Square.

Built in a Romanesque Revival style from from local sandstone, its dominant feature is the central dome, consisting of an interior glass dome and a copper-sheathed exterior, topped by a domed cupola. Smaller domes adorn the roofline.

Stained glass windows, including a cartwheel window, allow light into the central area, and the roof itself incorporates arched skylights running lengthways north and south from the central dome.

The shop features the most modern of contrivances the moving staircase, or “escalator”.
