Whats missing in this picture

Fair citizens of this fair city of New Babbage!  It is I!  Your overlor…friendly hotel owner *coughs*.

Port Babbage is a hive of industrious workers, busy docking ships, unloading goods for the populace of this fine city and checking their pockets incase an urchin makes off with a few coins.  With these ferry boats and airships come passengers.

Friends and relations of said passengers often have to stand around looking worried.  All the while their poor ankles are getting sore from…well…standing.

I’ll tell you whats missing…benches!

Yes!  Two or three well placed, worn, not painted in years and slightly rusted park benches would serve Part Babbage well.  Think of the old folks like Doctor Obolensky having to stand around while his arthritis acts up on his old legs!  Think of poor old Bonehea…Mr Underby who has very under developed muscles in his legs having to stand around and be blown hither and dither in the wind!  Think of me in my hoov…my fancy dress costume legs which i am testing having to stand all the time!

Yes!  A few well placed old, worn park benches on the upper promenade will work wonders for the old and the tired waiting on their latest shipment of doomsday machines, coal, non specific artifacts to aid in the mutual destruction of New Babbage…and it would be great for lazy sods like me who don’t like standing around…

PARK BENCHES FOR PORT BABBAGE!

*runs off and hides cause he figures Mr Tenk will be looking for him soon*

I second the motion. The Port is a great place to kick back and just take in the sights. Also it’s fairly central and gets quite a bit of foot traffic for folks just passing through. When I used to sit up in my lab I always noticed people stopping to talk but not having a place to just sit and carry on a conversation. I think a few well-placed benches is a fantastic idea.

On another note I’ve noticed that there’s no real common gathering place like there are in the other areas of the city. It seems we have plenty of pubs (not that we couldn’t use more, I suppose) but I’d be interested in any ideas for something a little different.

takes down the clipboard marked ‘oiling festival’, makes a few notes, and hangs it back on its nail

I tend to prop on a bollard, but they aren’t conducive to social sitting. Good suggestion :)

I believe Miss Commons makes a rather excellent, low-prim park bench.
