Welcome Center Discussion (Part 1)

As Clockwinder Tenk mentioned in the Town Hall meeting, it is time, and more than time, for me, with help from you, to get the Welcome Center organized.

For those who don’t remember, I bought Kaylee’s old store and dock property in Port Babbage.  Scottie Melnik had it at that point, with plans for a Welcome Center there, but he had to give it up.  Now that we’re past the distraction of the holidays (and other things *cough*), it’s time to make this a reality.  So in this, and my next, post, I’ll list some of my ideas.  Feel free to add, volunteer, shoot down, etc.

A) New Babbage: the TL;DR version.

Notecards are fine and dandy for giving more detailed information.  But casual visitors probably don’t want to wade through it all.  So I thought we could create a poster or sign to hang in the Welcome Center that gives the salient points in a concise manner.  Such as:

“New Babbage

1) Steampunk City.

2) City of builders and writers.

3) RP completely option, but often happens.  (And perhaps in smaller type, have (Please respect those who do it, and those who do not.))

4) Clothing required.  Steampunk/Victorian clothing optional.  Freebie clothing available here.”

Etc.  What do you think?  Good idea?  Bad idea?  If a good idea, what else should we add, keeping in mind we don’t want it to get too long?

B) Freebies

What freebies would people be willing to provide?  Clothing, of course, would be an excellent idea, but what else?  Souvenirs?  Pictures?  Textures?

Spread the love

With Freedonia gone some of those old freebies might find their way here.  What about buisness advertisements like had been on the trams, only smaller.
