‘The Gentleman’ – Part 4 of 4

Almost every Babbager had seen or at least heard about the leaked guild reports concerning The Gentleman, a cloud of anxiety spread throughout the city. People stayed up at night staring out of the window, others spun around to check rooftops and street corners on their daily walks, few even decided to take up arms when they had previously refused to.

The worst of all however was that people kept disappearing, nearby watch shops reported that their watches had vanished with only the discarded clockwork remaining and some children, not all, began to praise The Gentleman and defend him, almost as if he were a ‘friend’.

It seems The Gentleman, hoax or not, was yet another malicious shadow on the soot-covered streets of New Babbage.

((Thank you all for following this story, I’ve had a lot of positive feedback and I’m considering giving The Gentleman his own graphic novel sometime in the future. Feel free to indirectly reference him in your roleplays and stories just please don’t use the character himself unless cleared with me or Kea. (If I ever make an alt for him and he roleplays with you, feel free to write it up! I’ll let you know the name before hand though so you know it’s me/Kea. ^-^)

I hope you’ve enjoyed the tale of ‘The Gentleman’, I’ve certainly enjoyed writing it. One last thing to keep in mind: We live in an infinite omniverse where every possible universe exists an infinite number of times, including those we think of as fictional. The Gentleman is a trans-dimensional being, meaning he can go anywhere and anywhen in any possible universe. Sweet dreams everyone.))

Bugger me to pieces. See, incidents like the one you just done related is a prime example of why I don’t live in that damn walled-up city. It attracts all manner of unnatural nuisances.

    ((Well done.))

    This just in:

Ramblingal Bun, proprietress of Classic Steam Accessories, purveyor of gadgetry for industry and the masses, reported several crates of pocket watches destined for Calendon, along with numerous others in display cases, have gone missing from her West Abney Parkway shop over the course of the last week during her holiday spent in Raglan Shire. “It is the oddest thing.” She explained, “The workings of each watch were left scattered about the floor. Only the watch cases have vanished. The most singularly frightening fact is,  every clock left in my shop indicates the time as precisely 11:00! There are no signs of burglary. Yet, I sense a chill here. It’s as if a spector ransacked my shop.”

Unusual and disturbing, but sadly somewhat familiar in some respects.  I would love to discuss this with your Guild shortly.
