This could come in very useful.

Which is exactly why it is safely locked away in the Cupboard.

For the first time, she notices the small boy and cocks her head to one side as though a spark has erupted in her mind. “A very wise little nipper,” she whispers to her own self in clean and eerily sterile conversation. “This boy could become very, very useful.”

I must concur with my dubious neighbor Professor Parx. It would have many beneficial uses which might aid all the citizens of this teeming city.

Peers quite closely at the image, meditating on it and visualizing the merest, smallest constituent parts, allowing it to merge into her mind intuitively in a very focused effort to discern just what mechanisms drive this apparatus. Peering even closer as she emerges from her little mechano-reverie, she pays attention to the surrounding environment, and notices the air is even more murky than normal for Babbage, and that the halo from the lights seem very thick, yet oddly does not radiate outward as much as it would in the open air. This image is possibly underwater. Prepares to delegate Selkey towards this endeavour.
