That Cold Sinking Feeling – Part 2: The Plague

Mornington had stood by the small experiment table at his old lab in Clockhaven looking at the result of the test of the liquid and not quite beleiving it.  It was almost one year to the day…the plague which infected the city had come back, and this time he didn’t know where it came from.

He went back to the Museum where the infection had spread and looked at Rab the Raptor, his skin had definatley changed, the Raptor had caught the virus and the reports of a strange bipedal carnivore with a bad smell and worse skin could only lead to one conclusion, the timelock which was keeping Rab in suspended animation was either failing, or had already failed.  The raptor didnt bring the pathogen into the city though, it would have shown up in the tests.

The only other explanation was it either came from the building itself, some small part of the old museum building that wasnt fumigated…or it came from the new exhibit hanging on the ceiling beams that Elleon had somehow aquired.  Either way…the plague pathogen was out, and loose in the city.

This time Mornington figured the pathogen would be more rampant than the previous one since it had mutated slightly, the infected would show a much quicker progression of the disease, much quicker than before.  It looks like Elleon was right to lock herself away in the Museum study.

Thursday and Friday, expecisally Friday, would see the full efects of the disease on the afflicted, it meant that Mornington would have to act quick to come up with a new cure to combat this new mutated version of the plague…

*Scottie wakes up to the sound of Sky coughing. He rolls over and looks at his hand. A few moments of quiet follow before he yells out loud enough for all of Port to hear, “MORNINGTON!!”*

Avariel Falcon looked at the dinosaur, and the dinosaur ran away!

Holed up in the attic of her workshop, surrounded by several crates of supplies she believed would be needed to wait out the coming zombie apocolypse (she had heard the tales of last year, after all), Junie huddled in a corner.  She was wrapped in a blanket, shivering, a revolver by her side.

What was truly ironic, she thought to herself, was that in sealing up her workshop to prevent zombies from entering, she had also sealed out anyone that could come deliver a cure.

She thought back on the conversation she and others had had with Victor outside the museum a couple nights before.

Vic had said a cure would be easy to formulate…hadn’t he?

Junie decided to look on the bright side, while she still could.

Maybe Jed will break a window and come in, bringing the cure, she thought.  If she doesn’t shoot me first, things could work out alright.  Well, aside from being a zombie for awhile.

She wrapped the blanket around her body more tightly and coughed. And just as soon as I’m cured, I’m gonna punch Mornington right in the fangs.
