Does anyone know what causes avatars to go around with their mouths stuck open? I think not everyone sees it when it happens.

what do you wonder about?

The avatar probably had a drink attached in that particular logon session.  Many drink animations are horrible.

I wonder why furries wear pants that haven’t been altered to allow a tail to stick out.  If I had a tail, I’d have a tailor put a festive opening for that with nicely embroidered edges to show off my tail.

*me puts on his tailor hat and thinks about how to draft tailed trousers that don’t cause chaffing or a bald wear ring*

Figure that out and tap an unclaimed market!

Tails do have the problem that they may be in slightly different positions, so pre-positioned decorative trouser holes may not work…  cus i usually wear stuff i’ve scrounged, i usually just cut a hole fer my tail, then do some blanket stich to edge the hole.  As the cloth is generally quite worn, it’s soft an i don’t get any rubbing against my fur, but someone with new trousers could have problems.  Possibly a knitted tube like a sock could be attached to fit snuggly round the tail (saving drafts and possible embarresment…) and be sewn onto the trouser seat? hmmmm…..  have to think about this…..

Yesterday in Steelhead anytime someone teleported away the earth shook.  People said it was Tensai doing something, but Tensai wasn’t even online at the time.  Also, at Doc O’s party he asked if his death ray could animate my avatar.  Nothing happened.  Then, the next time I logged in, I kept falling down.

I used to wonder why my cafe floor kept trying to walk towards Palisade. But it stopped. Guess it got tired or got over its homesickness.

Yeah – parts of my buildings seem to sometimes move themselves.  What’s up with that?

oh! there are some expression animators, and one for kid avs does leave the mouth open unless the av remembers to turn it off….

    • Mr Tenk Mr Tenk September 20, 2010

aha, kid avs do seem more prone to it!

*grins*  years ago : I used to think one just sat a table @loki’s and their mouth  dropped open in awe !!

  7. Zaida Gearbox Zaida Gearbox September 20, 2010

I thought they did that because they’re kids.  I spend a lot of time around kids, and kids just tend to have their mouths open more that adults do.   When I read to the client kids most of them (most especially the younger ones) have their mouths hanging open while I read to them.  Their mouths hang open while they watch t.v.  Their mouths hang open while doing crafts in children’s group…

watch for the tounge poking out one side of the mouth – it’s something that happens when children concentrate, and is a throwback to some time when it indicated “do not disturb”! heheh  errrr….. yep… sometimes i still find meself doing it!

Hmmm.  I noticed one of the Urchins at Loki Eliot’s lecture with their mouth open.  Jist thought it was a kid thing…

My niece pokes her tongue out the side of her mouth when she colors.

    • Edward Pearse Edward Pearse September 21, 2010

I still do that if I’m doing model making or painting. Intense concentration on a very small area. The tongue is connected to the higher precision function I’m sure.

i’ve seen people that are not very good at math do it when trying to get through something difficult, in tutoring sessions.

and basketball players going for the lay-up. weird.

The flying tongue had an aerofoil shape which gave Jordan that extra bit of lift he needed for those turnaround dunks.

Don’t talk about me like that – actually it might help if I started doing that.

I see this happen to adult avatars (even my own) and no drink animations seem to be present. I’ve thought of it as the ‘OMG face’ since it seems more extreme than any likely expression.

It does seem to be a client issue… as I’ve done side by side viewing with a roommate and no such expression was present on the ‘OMG victim’.
