Is this the nice way to tell the europeans they are unwanted?

This meeting will be the first of many, folks. My thought was to use the Reader to bridge the gaps between timezones, and to use inworld meetings sparingly.

    Discussed informally so far:

Idea No. 1: Winter Carnival. A midway with different attractions for visitors – shooting galleries, games of chance, a fun house, an oddities exhibit. A tent for performances. High wire acts, magicians. Visitors can play games and win prizes.

Idea No. 2: Workshop of Hope. Amidst a bleak, snow-covered landscape, a series of glass-enclosed greenhouses stocked with light and warmth and greenery. These feed raw materials to a series of assembly lines manufacturing: Hope. A steam plant pumping steam via overhead pipes to the various workshops. A device designed to emit sunlight for the greenhouses. A building busily melting ice and snow into clear water. A tower providing a bird’s eye view of the works. Visitors can operate machinery, explore, and take away a commemorative brass and glass Piece of Hope to display on their mantlepieces.

Okay there’s two ideas. What have you guys got?

I like that greenhouse idea, but will Tenk approve the use of GREENERY?! We all know how much he liked the last time greens showed up… Haahhahaha

  6. Breezy Carver Breezy Carver May 28, 2011

Ohh AE ..   Jay Gould  had an amazing  Green House as well ..

Both ideas are lovely.  If we go with the greenhouse, I can see a fantastically, amazing, mechanical cancer-eating venus fly trap.

Well folks – thanks to Memorial Day traffic I completely whiffed on our Sunday night meeting. But a few of us gathered a bit later and kicked around some ideas. The greenhouse idea gained traction, so we shared inspirational photos and built a little model. Both are still up in the Well at City Hall. The conclusion reached was that the idea of a greenhouse-amidst-winter was a cool one, but perhaps it should house a workshop making things rather than greenery per se. Nothing like a warm, well-lit workshop to manufacture Hope (in convenient easy-to-carry portions).

We’ll schedule another meeting later this week (something Euro-friendly, if we can), to continue our theme discussions. We should probably pick one in the next week or so, and then break the job into chunks that people can volunteer to take on. In the meantime, if anyone has any other theme ideas (or comments on the ones we’re playing with), please post them here!

Well being a winter theme, maybe the texture on the panes could have frost patterns with a subtle touch of iridiscent spectrum.

I’d be interested in helping to walk the relay track. Too soon to tell the windows of time I’d be available.

Will make the vendors stuff this weekend (finally got settled in again at home).

I’m already doing a DJ event every 2 weeks to raise Lindens, but they’re held outside New Babbage.  I won’t give specifics here since it’s not in theme. Contact me inworld by IM for details.   Any added infusion of tips for the kiosk is a plus for the team. *ducks from breezy*

btw thanks Victor1st for earlier schedule of your Friday event. That will allow me to go to yours AND host mine :)
