Prime Minister Morningtons Final Speech

A notice is seen nailed to the front door of Brunel Hall and to the front door of City Hall…

“Dear members of the still oppressed City State of New Babbage and citizens of the former independant free township of academy.

I have decided today to hand over all records of Academy of Industry back to City Hall, thus ending the Independant Free Township of Academy of Industry.  With the port opened back up by the city navy, and a flood of foreign workers coming into the City, the Port Authority of both Clockhaven and Port Babbage has oficially dissolved itself, the strike workers have either decided to move to Steelhead or find jobs elsewhere in the city.

All transfer of records back to the acting Mayor took place several hours ago.  Academy is back under the City State banner.

Yours

Victor Mornington

Former Prime Minister”

But … how will the ladies and gentlemen have the scrap for which they were preparing?  I was quite looking forward to beating down an errant gentleman or two.  Could we not at least have a token mud-wrestling match?

“MR. PRIME MINISTER! Oh…glad to have found you, Sir! I’m ‘The Reporter’, Canal Street Snitch.

“Have you heard of me? N-no? Well…that’s rather embarassing… Uh..do you mind? A question or two for our readers? Thank you; it’ll only take a moment.”

“What do you say to your detractors, Sir, who now suggest that you were only in this for yourself and not the people? What of all those people who may now be forced to believe the Acting-Mayor’s slanderous accusations regarding you and the Clockwinder?”

This is probably the shortest independence movement on record–you can go down in history for that, at least!

((Sorry to see the “meh” tag, and doubly sorry if that means something took the fun out of it for you.))

You know kid, I was almost co-regent of an independent country.

It was good while it lasted, Mister Prime Minister.
