OC-Spambot Season

Just spent a good bit of time getting rid of what I declare to be a record number of spam accounts from the pending users.

Sorry for the delay kids, but it’s a necessary evil.

Remember, I also see the Email a Moderator traffic so if there is an issue with user accounts, please send it there or direct to me.

While ‘bitch to Tenk in Steampunks’ also works, that just means he ends up emailing me at work.

LYMI and carry on.

Spread the love

Actually they always have. That’s what prompted the mod-approval on new users back during the Ning days. For whatever reason, they were especially bad of late.

A symptom, perhaps, of a chaotic economy? By the by, have I mentioned a wonderful investment opportunity I recently discovered…. ?

Either they’re cracking the CAPTCHA or somehow bypassing it.  Can the one our site uses be upgraded?  (There are tons out there and ours is pretty crisp.)  That’s an awful lot of spam accounts to have to sort through all the time…

that’s why we still require mod approval, bottom line.
