Notice to all vessels outbound to Steelhead Shanghai

Notice to all captains with vessels bound for Steelhead Shanghai:

Due to an increase of lawless activity in the port and the inability of local authorities to protect those incoming vessels and cargoes, it is recommended that all shippers use alternate ports or make appropriate considerations for the security of their interests until such time as order is restored.

New Babbage Harbor & Shipping Authority.

*makes a note to draft a formal protest to Steelhead’s consul*

I think it may be time to update the maps of the harbor Aeo.

Prepares his research boat to go study Bull sharks near the Stealhead coast.

This may be wise. A government that cannot keep it’s own port facilities legitimate and above board is a marginal government.

Good thing I get my opium from Limehouse.

Dr. Dinosaur: Sea travel is a lost cause anyway! the Ichthyosaurs would sink those feeble mammal boats!  wait, what do you mean they’re all dead?!

And you can’t make plans to dock in at Steelhead Port Harbor because? Think there’s also a place for airships. It’s all safe.

((Not really a lawlessness issue. A little ticked off right now, don’t care for playing))

((Oh, and the ticked off thing is something unrelated. Just doesn’t have me in a roleplaying mood))

One thing I’ve been meaning to ask Lunar for a while now Fuzz, how do ships get INTO the Harbour? Have you looked at the map recently?

obviously, they downrig and go under the bridge.

see, you send a little guy aloft while everyone else hauls around on the captsan to lift the topmast off the fid, the little guy whacks it with a mallet a few times, then a couple guys take a strain on a line to keep the butt of the mast from catching things while the whole thing is lowered and the little guy hangs on to the yard for dear life….  oh nevermind.

Sounds inneresting.  I trust you never slipped from the yard, Mayor Tenk?

it is a bit unnerving when the ton and a half of wood, rope and cloth you are sitting on jumps suddenly

Bah!I will sink any Steelhead ship that gets in my way. *Turns his head and shouts* Periscope depth Mr. Calamy!

Luckily, my coffee and other cafe supplies are airshipped in from *rumbling sound of the trolley passing by* and I will be able to continue serving my guests for the forseeable future.  Hopefully New Babbage and Steelhead will eventually come to their sens…. wait, what am I saying?

At any rate, the cafe should have enough supplies to get through the Fall now. After that – we shall see.

What quantities do you normally need? I have . . connections that would allow me to bypass this mess entirely but they’re only good for smaller quantities.

  8. Ceejay Writer Ceejay Writer September 19, 2010

Normally I need a few hundred pounds of beans per season, along with 15 large bags of cocoa, 40 bags of sugar, and 300 cases of absinthe.  A cake is nice to procure, too.

Also, a side note, addressing another facet of recent conversations. Anyone found to be harassing a mechanical being on my property shall be asked to leave and not return.  The CocoaJava is the heart of Ceejaytopia, with ideals that include freedom for all, absinthe in droves, and thoughtful, sometimes radical notions.   I shall not waver on this point.  All are equal in my cafe. Even those dratted religious sorts.

  9. Gabriell Anatra Gabriell Anatra September 19, 2010

I can fit about 5 cases of tequila in my sub. I imagine Absinthe is comparable in size. The cocoa and beans shouldn’t be a problem, if the bags in question are those that I’ve seen near the hearth I can manage three or four at a trip. That’s about a week per trip so it might be problematic where the Absinthe is concerned.

    Hmmm..

Perhaps an investment in a larger sub is called for.

(( I love my sub. Best little blockade-runner in the ocean!  :-) ))

Simply intolerable. My boiler tubes are custom made in Steelhead. If I can’t get them from there, I have to pay market rate here, or, egad, fabricate my own, and even though there are some keen craftsmen in REDACTED, it’s hard enough to get  a crate of decent REDACTED from under the wall let alone REDACTED.
