New Babbage Book Discussion at the R.F. Burton

What if the Revolutionary War ended in a negotiated peace
and America remained a part of Britain?
This book, The Two Georges, written by Harry Turtledove and Richard Dreyfuss, imagines a
very different 1996 America.

A precious and historic painting has been stolen by
terrorists — radical separatists who will stop at nothing to shatter the union
between Britain and America. Colonel Thomas Bushell, the government’s most
fearless agent, is the only man who can stop them.  but this is not our world. For the stolen painting depicts a
treaty of peace between George Washington and King George III — a treaty that
has kept America under British rule for two centuries. And the terrorists, who
call themselves the “Sons of Liberty,” want America to be free.

 Please join us
at the Burton library on Saturday, July 20 at 2 pm slt to discuss another
recommended book by Babbage citizens. A warning though: it’s almost 600 pages
long so make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get it read. Heck, even
if you don’t finish the book, join us. Our gatherings are fun and lively.
