Isambard Kingdom Brunel Hall

Orginally I.K. Brunel Hall was called Crumb Hall, named after the second Emperor of the old city of Babbage before the fall of the Great Empire.  Based on plans for the original Crumb Manor the hall was built to the original specifications if the manor which was found in the city vaults.

Crumb Hall was completed soon after the Academy of Industry sim went out of “sandbox” mode and was the first “built on site” structure…but not the first complete structure (that was the move of Cocoajava).

The original plan for Crumb Hall was to be a 4 apartment dormitory for folks learning things in the Academy of Industry.  The original first hall was finished on October 10th 2009, and it technically closed on October 16th…6 days later, when the first of the 3 massive extension was added, with the completion of the first extention, I.K Brunel Hall and Hotel was born…

On January 4th 2011, the Hall as it is recognised today came into being when an extra floor was added to make the upper floor rooms on two levels and give the hall its new vaulted ceiling…

The Hotel as it stands now has only had cosmetic changes to the outside timberwork, but regular overhauls of the inside, and more especially the bar is continous ongoing work, which has turned into a running joke in New Babbage :)

Awesome history. There are a number of builds in New Babbage I would love to hear the back story on. Although I am still laughing about the last line – “Essentially … ‘finished’ on August 8th, 2011”! Ha!
