Herding Kittens……..

Blimey, kittens is hard work, dunno how mother cats manage….

Since i took on em four kittens, me life ain’t been me own, i have to keep the heat stone warm, or they heads off in all directions to find something to cuddle up to, they needs feeding at least every two hours (an the voles is just about milked out…), an when i want ter sleep, they seems to want to crawl all over me an sneeze down me nose!

I been looking fer a mother cat with kittens, so’s i can slip my lot in with em (you have ter rub the kittens over with… well… errr…. stuff the other kittens have made, then the mum can’t tell the difference an looks after em, don’t think cats can count, otherwise they would know…), but can i find one?  They’s hid up good an proper, and the other cats just runs away when i try ter talk to them like i did with Miss Fargazer.

Still, i popped into the Gangplank the other night, cus i saw Mis Macbain in there with some other ladies, and Mr Mornington, an asked if she had any old kid gloves.  You can fill a little bottle with milk, an put one of the glove fingers over the end with a couple of little holes in the tip, an the kittens suck on it like it were their mum’s te…. err… Well, it works anyhow!  Once Miss Macbain heard it were to feed the kittens, she offered up a pain straight off, an said i could have milk from the Gangplank every morning! It were right generous of her, an it will be a real relief fer the voles….

The other ladies went all gooey over the idea of kittens, i guess they don’t know how much work they is!  I siad i was looking fer a cat to take care of the kittens, an Miss Macbain told me about an old three legged one she feeds, but tain’t no good, cus i need one as gives milk, an can teach the little ones how to hunt an be proper cats…. dun’t think they will get the hang of me traps really, an they ain’t got proper fingers to set em right.   Still, it were nice of her to offer.

The kittens eyes are begining ter open too, so maybe they will stay in the right place once they can see how dangerous it is ter go wandering…. i hope……

Oh yes, forgot ter mention, when i was going into the Gangplank, there was a big furry looking snake thing eating someone.  Looked like it were a bit late to help the poor chap, an i were a bit busy, but i’d better let the other urchins know to look out…..

Spread the love

If my sister and I were in a position to know about this, we’d be very grateful. ~purr~

*starts putting out the usual milk-bowls and waiting for the usual cats to come* It does strike me as odd that I haven’t seen any of the usual cadre lately…oh well, one will come by and I’ll be sure to pass the word along that young Tepic could use a hand.

In the meantime, Tepic, you’re welcome to bring them to my barge when you go looking for a mother to take them if I’m in. I can fire up the hibachi stove to keep them warm by. I generally take my rest in the day time, so they could just cuddle right up under the covers with me.

    And I think I’ve finally stopped shedding…

Or I could always just lend you the hibachi and a nice blanket to wrap around the base. The bottom doesn’t get too hot, so they should be safe, especially with a blanket wrapped around it. Make a nice warm nest.

Thank you Mr Moreau, i might do that, people have been very kind.  Oh, i got the warmth thing sorted, i got one of them heat stones they used ter put in the old houses. under the hearth, when they was pulling some down long time ago.  You put it in a fire, wait a bit, then, when it’s hot enough take it out, an it stays the same heat fer a couple of hours…. don’t know why people don’t use em now, strange…..
