so it will still connect, just no real update? eh, I’ll still use it, least until LL axe it

Well that sucks. I guess that forces everyone eventually to go to a crappy Viewer 2 version (reminds me that I need to update Kristens Viewer when I get home).

I can’t stand Viewer 2.  What’s that other TPV that starts with I??

I would recommend a certain degree of Imprudence at this point.

I refuse to upgrade to Viewer 2 because of the negative information I heard about it.

Viewer 2.1 isn’t all that bad and they’ve made a few of the desired tweaks people (including myself) were ranting about that we missing from Viewer 2.0.

I just really like a lot of the features that Emerald makes handy. Perhaps with this news the developers will try to bring those features to other TPV’s. Imprudence has a lot of nice features and if it were coupled with some of Emerald’s if would be a huge win for everyone, I think.

What’s Kristen’s like? I’ve never downloaded it before but I’ve heard good things about it and I’d like to give it a shot as well.

It’s basically taking all the bad stuff in Viewer 2 and making it better.

my biggest issue with v.2 is the layout is aweful, I hate the tabs and much preferred windows I could moe around to where they were out of the way, but still open, I multitask alot so tend to usually have inventory, build, and communications on at the same time, can’t do that in V2, it’s all one tab at a time, plus avatar appearance frankly sucks.

and I miss the little tiny tab in the corner flashing when I have IMs half the time , s they often get missed

Yes, 2.0 is tolerable for small groups having short discussions, but for venues it’s just a wash out. It just isn’t nearly as good at handling multiple activities as 1.23 or Snowglobe, let alone Emerald, Imprudence, or the Cool VL.

Chat alone . . I recently switched to gnome from KDE as my desktop because KDE went with that double-line mostrousity. It’s just as bad in SL. What a great way of turning a 22-inch monitor into an 11-inch one. :-/

Try Control-Shift I.  It will give you the inventory window you miss.

And there are flashing icons in the lower RH corner for IMs,  even a count of how many you have yet to view.

My experience is that viewer 2 has just about everything we used to have…but it may be in a different place. I think the only thing that is truly gone, is the ability to give a calling card.

Imprudence I beleive isn’t being worked on anymore, but still apparantly will connect.

there’s anotherone that’s basically a copy of emerald’s source code that still connects, Emergence

I’ve heard too that some of the Emerald team are taking what they had and are looking to make a new TPV that will be allowed by LL, don’t know if it’s true or not

and it’s LL, there’s a possibility Emerald will never really be banned anyway and they just say they will

Its still being worked on, they just released RC2 which seams to solve the stuttering issues that I had with RC1.

Imprudence is still active and there are several other options available here. There is also Emergence and there will undoubtedly be some other project using the last Emerald codebase as well.

emerald should still work for open sim as well, even if LL bann it from their grid

I haven’t tried snowglobe in so long, should start using it again, it might help with my current lag issues
