Showdown at Unobtainium 2012: Tesla vs. Edison is a two-day themed experiential event featuring music, vendors, strolling and stage actors, Vaudeville-style performances, and interactive art. (Art and tech installation creators will have a chance to win prizes.)

Built around an imaginary world of the mining town of
“Unobtainium, TX” and featuring an epic dust-up between Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison, the event will immerse attendees in a virtual-world-made-real focused on a fictional knock-down, drag out brain duel between these two brilliant inventors.

The purpose is to entertain, certainly, but also to inspire and
educate, and will feature demonstrations, talks and mini
“maker” workshops sprinkled throughout the event
over the course of the weekend.

Visitors will be able to purchase artisanal creations -augmented technology, fashion, objets d’art and more –
from handpicked purveyors of cutting edge steampunk and technological wonders in our recreated “ghost town” 30 minutes SE of Austin.

I have no idea what this is gonna be, the producers are purposefully vague about it.

The Event was held last weekend, not much information coming out as of yet. I was unable to attend. A personal acquaintance was unimpressed, but the folks at this odd Aether Site seem’d to like it. The Capitol of Texas has a fairly dedicated Gaslamp Contingent. Here is the review:
