Danger from the sky

Yesterday I was setting up to take some photos of the skyline from the window of my new factory building. When I looked up from making adjustments I was startled to see a small clockwork just a short way outside the window, suspended from a balloon and slowly moving across the roof in slow bounces. When I moved it stopped and stared at me with it’s one unblinking eye.

I had enough presence of mind to reach over and trigger the camera and obtained this rather out of focus picture. About that time I noticed some tiny airships floating above the disturbing intruder and had a bad feeling about what I saw them carrying.

And yes, it turned out that they were bombs. A long tense minute later one of them exploded in the air (a misfire?), rattling the window panes and breaking several of them. The clockwork then came bounding toward me with an outstretched arm which appeared to have a spike or bayonet on the end. It was difficult to tell.

I fled down the stairs and made my way out to the street in front of the LOX building. The clockwork soon appeared at the edge of the roof and I fired a few shots at it with the only weapon I had, an experimental Calvorite pistol. I must have hit it as it rapidly ascended out of sight.

The remaining three bomb carrying ships were drifting down and with the wind, endangering mine and the neighboring buildings. I shot at one and the shock caused it to explode. So I did the same for the other two and the property damage was slight (fortunately the bombs were small). Looking about afterward I only found twisted bits of metal and some burned fabric – nothing to identify the maker.

So if you see this strange clockwork, beware. I don’t know what it is up to but it is dangerous.

Self defense? And just who are we attacking?

That poor litte thing has been repeatedly attacked by Urchins…

Narrowly making its escape after being shot at and bombed and even poked with sticks.

And how would you know that?

One unblinking eye……Seems I recall a small mechanical contraption with one eye.

*drums his fingers and begins to wonder.
