Concerning All Hallows Eve … and Pirates

A few weeks ago, one of my customers asked me if I had any pirate music that would play on her music box.  I did not, but I started looking.  I found some sea shanties that would do, but no actual pirate music (or none that I liked).  So I wrote a pirate song.

Writing the song put me in a pirate mood, so I decided to go with a pirate theme for Hallowe’en this year.  The pirate skelleton (by the amazing Aley) in front of my shop in the Port plays a recording of the new pirate song when you get close to it, and the gift inside the pumpkin is a “Soot Globe” conatining the same pirate skelleton in miniature and playing the tune.  By pressing (touching for more than one second before lifting your finger) the Soot Globe, you can access the settings dialogs, from which you can select what instrument sounds to use for playing the pirate song, or you can play the full recorded version that I used in my Hallowe’en display.

I hope everyone listens to the song and tries out the Soot Globe.  If you would like a better quality version of the song, you can download a copy here: I am a Pirate (Yo Ho!)
