Port Babbage – In the wee hours of the morning it was reported that an unexpected explosion took out the second floor of the Curious Seamstress store on the New Babbage Waterfront. The landmark store has stood in sturdy splendor for nearly two years on the corner of the block.
The building is currently boarded up, with hastily made walls holding up the teetering third story. A sign from the owner, Miss K. Tomsen, was tacked to the locked front doors, which states that the building is closed for renovations.
Customers are directed to the home store until further notice.
Miss Tomsen was not available for comment, though a sporadic stream of vile language (in a feminine voice) was said to be heard by passersby from the depths of the now ruined building. Among the loudly shrieked stream of vexed ramblings were the words, ‘re-sizing boxes’, and ‘stupid %@#$ phoenix!’
One can only assume that Miss Tomsen was referring to some type of exotic bird.
Ms. McAllister, you should be writing for the Snitch!
I wish I could take credit for this, but Miss Tomsen wrote this herself during a conversation she and I were having and asked me to post it for her as she was not familiar with how to do so on here. I thought it was a rather humourous look and response to that all-too-familiar situation that sometimes happens when you start to fiddle with your build.
I have always enjoyed Miss Tomsen’s group announcements – each a small fanciful vignette. She has a wonderful imagination.
