My apologies to any who have been disturbed by the loud nosies coming from the Vernian Sea over the last few and next few days.
Some of us have been practising with our Ironclads, in preperation for Fleet Week. For some of us, these vessels are something we are new to, and we need to be able to handle them with at least moderate accuracy. i.e have the pointy bit going forwards, and the blunt bit staying behind us. Not to mention having cannonballs fly towards the enemy, I hope I’m not getting too finnicky here.
In case we need a method of last resort, I also purchased an armoured airship. It tends to fire a lot of cannoballs without great accuracy, a problem with design I think and not my aiming. I hope never to have to use this massive weapon, but I’m prepared to use it to protect New Babbage from invaders. Unless they have lots of fresh bananas of course, and may be considered reasonably civilised :)
In order for me to take part in the Fleet Week, I’ve had to build and mobilise an approximation of the human form which I can sit in and control. This is easier than trying to alter all the controls to fit my form. If you saw some of the standards used by some builders, well….plenty of rust and not enought robust.
BOOM! Whoooooooooooooooooooooosh! THUNK!
Ouch! Did someone lose a cannon ball? …and a medium size penguin?!
A cannonball? ; My boat was considerably lighter on the way back in :)
Hey, I gots a copy of the Hunley. Drives like a truck and only good for one shot, but kin I come play?
Get a real ship, and why are you asking the monkey?
(subs are fun, but will not be in on the fight night…)
Sorry Commodore. I have duel citizenship in the State of Confusion.
You are right, I should get a proper steam powered ship, that crankshaft is really tiresome…
besides, where are you going to find a team of short Alabamians at this hour?
Are airships and submarines also elligable for Fleet Week, or is it surface vessels only?
Check here for the schedule. There is submarine racing on Friday. Airships have their own thing in Januray.
Thank you, Miss Book. It’s good to be clear.
to be verbose:
For the ironclad fight night (Thursday, 1700 SLT location TBA), that is surface vessels, ICS capable. There will be 2 scenarios, a free for all melee, and a team fleet action.
There will be a submarine race, and a tall ship race (details TBA).
Normally there are not aviation assets in the ICS fight, or submarines. HOWEVER, there may be a new monthly event in the works to include land, sea, air, and undersea units.
There should also be word in the notice for builders to display their wares as well.
No idea, but I bought the airship to play with, so whether allowed or not it’s immaterial.
We did have an air/sea scenario 2 years ago…
Hmmmmm…. an air, sea, undersea scenerio might be interesting at some point. Say… subs shooting at ships and airships, ships shooting at subs and airships, airships shooting at ships and subs, and the people on the shore ducking for cover. :D
I’m looking at that possibility now with 1/5th scale Steampunk ships at Blakes Sea. They were intended for use with micro avatars, but human sized ones can use them with a special hud or go invisible ;)
