Awakening (Part 2)

((Feel free to comment!))

(From the personal journal of Dr. Ambrose Martel)

Success! Success at last!

The subject woke–and stayed awake–with no life-threatening panic. Not only that, but the human body instincts and reflexes overrode the cat-mind directives no less than three times in the short time she was awake.

The first instance was when the subject attempted to sit upright. She struggled for several minutes with trying to move her limbs as a cat would. But when she finally gave up and relaxed, bodily instinct took over and brought her up into a sitting position with no difficulty.

The second occurred when I brought the subject a mirror, so she could view her altered state. I wasn’t sure that the cat brain would comprehend what it was seeing, but she did, and it wasn’t long before she started crying. I suppose it’s no surprise that the subject would still be very emotional over what has happened. But I was surprised that the human reaction of tears came so readily.

I let her cry for a while, to relieve her feelings, then prepared a drink of water with a sedative in it. When I held the glass to her, she drank from it straightaway as a human would–the third occurrance of instictual human behavior.

I am hopeful that, now that we’ve gotten past this first encounter, I’ll be able to physically examine the subject on a regular basis without too much uncomfortableness on her part. I need to see how the human body is reacting without the influence of sedatives. The psychological reactions, in the meantime, should be very interesting, indeed.
