Automatons Should… Not!

Although for obvious reasons I do not agree with the sentiment of the poster who placed the word ‘Not’ over the automaton rights posters, I do however salute their bravery in placing such a sticker on a poster inside the Clockhaven Power Station, home to dozens of clockworks!

So far I have not had the time to check the security log tapes so I have no idea if the perpetrator got away with this action, or if they were thrown in the sea, or maybe thrown through the portal into the middle of the Venusian Jungle with only a ragged sock for clothing.

Tum ti tum… Somewhere beyond the sea… Somewhere waiting for me…

*wanders back to the sea*

Strangely there is a box of them in the basement from the old days of the AP&E company, no pairs though and all very much used.

Ah, Clara Corryog Trygassven support freedom and right to exist for all automata with the menatl capacity to be classified sentiant.

I also support Asimov’s Three Laws of Robotics.

    Support the third law!

The miserable things humanity does to it’s children aren’t bad enough that we must create more life forms to add to the misery? I saw one of those posters just recently. It mentioned the right to be safe from attack, or perhaps the right not to be used for prostitution, I forget. Either way this is quite abominable.

I’ll admit to misgivings about the classification of automatons as people, but creating beings, and they are clearly beings, merely for use as slaves or worse is unacceptable to any people who can be thought of as civilized.

As for the monster that apparently thinks violence against them is acceptable. .well, there are those who feel that way about humans as well. Should he run into one of them I’m sure I’ll find the humor in it.

Wha? this is terrible! of course automotons should have rights!  I really should pay more attention to the posters around me, something tells me if I wind down in the streets again, not everyone would be friendly enough to wind me back up.

There is no such thing as a “Crime” against a clockwork device, only to its owner.

my study of feral automotons, and empire period models have shown, the more advanced ones really are just as diverse as people, and in the case of models that have gone feral, such as the pengi, show similar traits to human phsycological conditions, I found them travelling Palisades in bands, mugging random people, and now they’re (mostly) rehabilitated into hard working employees,  plus is much less expensive when you’re paying in coal and occasional fish.

The ones with more advanced Cognigators, such as Miss Falcon, are practically people, artificial, but still people.

And it brings up another question about those who were born people, but now have largely mechanical parts, arms, legs, in some cases whole bodies, would you take their rights away as well?

There is in my employ a gentleman and skilled engineer, a soldier recently retired from the Prussian Armee, who was gravely wounded in battle.  I daresay he has strong ideas about the rights of people that must rely on clockwork prosthetics to lead a (approximately) normal life.
