Actually you just missed one of largest ones which is the Oiling Festival. At the moment though don’t know of any others.
There is one for the upcoming ball this month. It’s the Emerald Ball (yes, Wizard of Oz-ish theme), so the build contest is for hot air balloons. *prods Breezy to post the details*
