Air Kraken Festival Announcement

Now that brains have been stormed, ideas have been presented, approvals stamped and hoops jumped through, I’m happy to announce Babbage’s first Air Kraken Festival is going to take place the week of August 21st through 27th.

Events on the agenda:
-An open air marketplace for participants to give away/sell their festival related wares, strange food and games.
-An air kraken themed build contest.
-Various gatherings/dances.
-Air kraken target practice and “attacks”.
-And more!

Exact details are on the way soon! So put those thinking caps on and figure out how you would most like to contribute to your local Air Kraken Festival!

If you have any ideas or questions please feel free to contact Sky (Netizen) Melnik.

Spread the love

You already know one of my schemes!  *laughs*  I might also suggest (and this should be no surprise to anyone) a short story/poetry submission event.  Tales of brave heroics fighting kraken are a time honored tradition, after all!

*grins and gently nudges Ceejay* Willing to sponsor said event? Come on in, the water…er, air is fine.

I guess I need to know what’s involved in sponsoring!  Im’ happy to encourage this, and would sponsor if it’s within my means (both time and linden are still in short supply but I am working on both)

Certainly! We’ll be in touch. *grins*

Also, just so other folks know: If you do get an idea for an event, contest, display, what-have-you, chances are I’m going to happily welcome your idea, supply you with all of the details and help I can and then give you the reins . We are hoping for folks to participate as they want to since it’s a festival for the whole community. That’s the crazy idea, anyway… *chuckles*

I’ll happily help you organize and judge a writing contest, just let me know if you need a hand :)

Thank you Star! Judges are always hard to round up so consider yourself totally roped in for that!   I have been rolling around some ideas in my head, in hopes of making this a fun contest that anyone would have fun entering.  I’m near zonked from heat exhaustion today but very very soon (maybe tomorrow!) I will hurl an email at you and Sky with some category ideas.  both of you, do feel free to throw any at me in email, as well.

I’d be happy to help judge as well.

Maybe all the entries could be collected and put into a book that citizens could have? I could do that, as well as help you and Stargirl out however.

Your idea, your decision. The offer is there.

I’ve missed collaborating with you, Sera.  *lassos you*  No backing out now!

Scottie has a book printer as well, just throwing that out there if you folks are interested. Hmm, perhaps once we get our ducks…air kraken…whatever…more in a row (in the next few days) we’ll have a little planning meeting. How does that sound? :-)

                • Ceejay Writer Ceejay Writer August 1, 2011

A planning meeting sounds good – and if everyone can’t be inworld at the same time, a planning email thread works, too!   I personally don’t think this needs to be too complicated – everyone should have fun, even the organizers!  I’ll keep brainsimmering, and lets see how the next few days shape up. This thread is  good to have to know who wants to do what!

That’s a great idea. Email is much better for me as inworld has gotten to be busy!

I’ll see what “The Family” can come up with.

Alright! Scavanger hunt is set and planned so whatever day you want it set for let me know! It’ll be just for the urchins though as the grand prize is rather childishly cheesy.

I made a kraken-shaped lantern thing!  SL is acting up pretty badly at the moment, so I’ll try and remember to send one later!  http://i.imgur.com/7yT3e.jpg

And if you need merchants, I have a gacha machine that would fit right in.

Beautiful, Kaylee! And that sounds marvelous, I’ll put you on that list!

    • Ceejay Writer Ceejay Writer August 1, 2011

Kaylees krakens are adorable beyond belief.  What about making one rather flexy, like a windsock, and putting it on a stick for people to carry about, rather like a balloon?  I can just see they being carried all over Babbage.  :D

      • Sky Melnik Sky Melnik August 1, 2011

Yes! And there’s already some designs for kraken kites underway as well. :-) That’ll all be great!

I’m thinking of selling an iced Krakeccino, and maybe frequent patient cards for the hospital. With ten broken limbs, the eleventh is free!

This sounds like great fun. Alas, I have RL travel commitments for most of the week in question. About the most I could do to help is to deploy a rezzer someplace before I leave. If you would contact me, Mrs. Melnik, we can arrange the details.

    • Sky Melnik Sky Melnik August 5, 2011

Certainly, sir! I’ll contact you soon inworld with details and hope that you can perhaps make it to the end of the festivities.
