If I may make use of the map for a moment…
The land of Clear is situated a few miles to the east of the Snowlands, it is a land of rugged hills and mountains. The portal comes out in a small wood that is near a handful of shops. There is a large but little used road that passes near by.

No, they weren’t. I spent some time near one after escaping from the wreckage of the Island. The snowlands are beautiful this time of year. Bitterly cold though. Arctic cold, even.
