Aether Blind

Unit 3 came back online and after a few internal checks turned to Unit 6, “Unit’s… eye… wires… were… damaged.   Eyes… themselves… of… an… older… design.”

“Affirmative.  Unit’s eyes predate camera image technology.  Lenses pick up different spectrums and registers as a myriad of colors and shapes unit has come to recognize.”

“Yes.  Several… wires… have… corroded… but… only… one… badly.”  Unit 6 explained.  “At… the… junction… of… your… eye… wires… there… was… considerable… errosion.  Possibly… from… canal… water.”

“Probable.  Unit is often in the sewers inspecting them.”

“With… these… wires… malfunctioning… Unit…. would… be… unable… to… see… aetheric… energies… or… creatures… like… the… crabs.” Unit 6 continued when Unit 3 did not respond. “The… same… way… a… human… could… be… color… blind.”

The unit accepted this data.  This could also explain why the unit had been unable to see something that the urchins had been speaking to a few months ago.  After a moments analysis it returned, “Some of the birds may be like the crabs in nature?”

“That…could…be…the…case.” Unit 6 replied slowly. “More… data… is… required… to… be… sure.  Humans…see…things…that…aren’t…there…sometimes.”

Unit 3 nodded, and took it upon itself to hunt for more data.
