A strange craft with an appetite for Beef?

Two clockworks were wandering the streets long after dark as beings needing no sleep are want to do. Suddenly they sensed a strange electromagnetic pulse seeming to come from outside the palisade! They exited the city gates to investigate and what a strange sight met their mechanical eyes.

The mechs moved closer to investigate. One of the horned animals that the humans enjoyed to consume seemed to be centered in some sort of beam. Their mechanical minds whirred and clicked and their gears ground trying to make sense of the sight before them, they came to one conclusion. The humans would not like for one of animals to go missing. So they approached the beam cautiously,  peering up at the craft to assure they were not being detected.

The craft abruptly lifted the horned meat animal and disappeared into the night sky! Was it a resident of the city sleepwalking with an insatiable hunger for beef… or was it something else?

The Cattle Planet wants its revenge! We’re done for.  Hide the beef pies.

I was taking a flight out beyond the city wall today and saw a strange new object by the pond. “A lightning rod?”, I wondered. In a way, yes. When I approached, a bolt of electricity jumped from it to strike my ship. I moved away quickly and escaped with only a few burn marks on the basket.

I landed a little distance away to inspect the damage and noticed a figure on the ground near the railway bridge.

Oh no!  Who would have done such a thing?

Those creatures have horns, Mr. Tenk.  They are bulls, not cows.  So, that milk you think you’re drinking…. yeah, it’s not milk…

Many breeds of female bovine sport horns, doctor.

Damn it, Jim, I’m a doctor, not a zoologist.

If that bovine be a “she”, she appears to be udderly missing something from the angle in the photo.
