A Note To Steelhead Folk

OOC:

My feeling may be incorrect, but I have gotten the impression that people from Steelhead are considering this a hate crime, thinking that Underby killed Pip BECAUSE he was non-human.

Nothing could be farther from the truth.  Pip was “killed” to silence him from telling things that shouldn’t be told, nothing more.  Underby was actually rather fond of the little beast.

Cross posting.  Thanks Underby – thought I think most of us in Steelhead are just armchair quarterbacking, and loving every minute of it.  And keep in mind all any of us know is what we read in the newspapers.  We all know that newspapers don’t always get it right.  So, maybe Steelhead’s papers are making it seem like it was a hate crime?  Though, I do think most are objecting to the idea that it wasn’t murder at all because of Pip’s status as a non-human.

OOC: That was my understanding, yes.  The actions in New Babbage are uncertain to the Steelhead crowd and so we are reading into it.  In the case of that silly Yakuza boss, who is definitely non-human, she is upset over the legal interpretation, and not the killing itself.  She’s also using it as an excuse to extort the ships coming into “her” parts of the Shanghai docks.  It’s been fun so far!
