A Letter To Mayor Tenk

((This is the conclusion of Wiggy’s Adventures At Sea. I am officially back from vacation!))

To the Honorable Mayor Moseveno Tenk

From his most humble servant, Captain Wiggy Undertone

Dear sir,

The reports of my demise are greatly exaggerated. I am alive and well.

You may have received report from the crew of the Ligeia, that ill fated morning when I was one of three crewmen who perished at the tentacles of a great flying kraken. Sadly, my two crewmates did not survive.

On that flight, our small airship was struck hard and fast by one of the beasts. The small framework collapsed, crushing one crewmate, Mr. Jean-Pierre Bouvier, and killing him outright. Utai Tashtempa and I scrambled up into the rigging, and we cut the damaged airframe away. It fell into the sea, and our balloon increased in altitude very rapidly. The balloon jumped up so quickly in fact, that Tashtempa lost his grip and fell as well. He followed Jean-Pierre into a watery grave. I was left dangling alone and hung on for my life as the balloon quickly climbed up into the clouds.

For hours I drifted, disorientated and chilled. A single harpoon left caught in the rigging became my savior, as I used it to release a small amount of the gas and at last began to lose altitude.

Fate was with me that day indeed. I crashed into the sea not far from a small island. The current soon carried me closer, and I made landfall. I had to survive by my wits for a week before a passing ship saw the airship bag spread across two palms. I had placed it there near the beach and was using it as shelter.

I shall be returning to New Babbage by ship this Saturday evening.

Best regards,

Captain Wiggy Undertone

Spread the love

    Oh, goodness! I’m so relieved!

((Dang it! I kept meaning to ask if word of your “demise” would have reached us–I could have blogged something about it. Ah, well.))

I made the harpoon myself.  I’ll send a copy to you.

Tepic hears the news of Mr Untertone’s survival with a sigh of relief, as he is a nice chap, despite having locked up the wrong people by mistake, and persisting in the belief that urchins are responsible for every apple pie theft in the City…….  hmmmmm…… matbe the ships crew could be talked into taking him back to the island?

((enjoyed Mr Untertone’s adventures, though quite how he managed to survive on his wits is a little beyond me, maybe that is why he lost so much of his clothing?  The tales of that survival could be very interesting, now where is my copy of “Lost”…))
