A Journey by Air

It had been quite an exciting trip, and Tepic was not quite sure why, when they touched down in the Mondrago Square, Mr Arnold had lept out of the basket and hugged the ground, or if cats were supposed to be faintly green under their fur….

On taking off from The Old Imperial, he had turned South as Mr Arnold said thats the way they were going, unfortunatly, there was that big building just to the South, so he had to dodge round that, which, of course, meant they were heading straight for the place with the big windmill like sails. He couldn’t go round that, not with the speed they were doing, so it had to be timed just right, and he had done it too! The sail had passed at least two feet behind them, pleanty of room!

He had fogotten to tell Mr Arnold that once out to sea they would lose the warm air updraft you always get with the City, and they would drop somewhat… Didn’t realise it would take so much time to stoke the boiler up to to enough hot air to go back up, and salt water was good fer you, wasn’t it? They clean wounds out with it anyhow…..

And, how could he be to blame for that island, it wasn’t marked on any charts, not that he actually had any. They had skimmed over it, dodging the tall trees, and there had been no reason for the natives to start loosing arrows at them, they were trying not to knock much over….

Oh… the Air Kraken, well, probably best leave that story for later, but the old trick worked!

The storm just before we reached Mondrago? Well, i think it helped us reach shore quicker, so no real harm done…

Wonder when Mr Arnold will want to go back?

Spread the love

::chuckles:: No wonder he was so tense when he reached Maddox.

It was night before he had arrived in the desert city, Tepics ship had barely managed to survive between the storm, the Air Kraken, and the natives that had almost punctured the balloon.  He had been given time to think though, about what would happen if he were to die out at sea.  Only he knew where he’d hidden the device was one problem, but one of the urchins could have found it eventually.

What worried him more was that Dr. Dinosaur wouldn’t know he was dead.  It had occurred to him while they had been falling from the sky towards the sea that if he died before he settled things with him then those metal raptors would continue to hunt his kind down, looking for him in vain for days, or weeks…possibly longer.

By the time he had arrived in Mondrago he had come to a decision about what he’d have to do, but first he had to see Dr. Maddox…and hope this wasn’t a trap.

I wouldn’t blame the natives, who isn’t tempted to shoot arrows at balloons. I am curious, though, as to which variation of that old air kraken dodging trick you might have used.
